Mayor Tecklenburg Visits Memminger VISIT PART OF NATIONAL SERVICE FOCUS

This morning, Mayor John Tecklenburg visited the Reading Partners site at Memminger School of Global Studies. He read with students and observed the Reading Partners program.
The mayor's visit was part of a focus on national service.
Reading Partners is one of the very successful national service opportunities through AmeriCorps that is featured in Charleston.
Reading Partners has the largest state grant with 35 members.
Reading Partners has been a part of the Charleston educational landscape since 2013
Reading Partners mobilizes communities to provide students with reading support.
Memminger School of Global Studies is helping all students develop world class academic and life skills
The school focuses on three major initiatives: the International Baccalaureate Program, Social Emotional Learning, and Personalized Learning
As a candidate school in the International Baccalaureate (IB) Program, Memminger is quickly shifting the methods by which we traditionally teach.
The students and teachers are part of collaborative effort of learning that includes inquiry, discovery, and knowledge.
