Vic Beasley Jr. NFC Defensive player of the week

Vic Beasley Jr. has been named NFC Defensive Player of the Week for his performance against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 14.

Beasley recorded his fourth multi-sack game of the season, his second game with three-or-more sacks, dropping rookie QB Jared Goff three times in Atlanta's 42-14 win over the Los Angeles Rams.

He scored his first career touchdown on a 21-yard fumble return after stripping Goff on his third sack of the day.

Beasley became the 10th player in NFL history - and first Falcon - to record three-or-more sacks and return a fumble for a touchdown in the same game since sacks became an official statistic in 1982.

The second-year linebacker out of Clemson tied John Abraham's franchise record with his sixth forced fumble of the season.

Beasley has totaled 13.5 sacks on the season, the fourth best single-season tally in franchise history. His 13.5 sacks are the most by a Falcon since John Abraham set the club record with 16.5 in 2008.

Beasley dropped Goff three times for a loss of 27 yards on Sunday. This season, he is tied for the league lead with 87 sack yards. Beasley is averaging 6.4 yards per sack for the year.

Beasley finished the game with three tackles, three sacks, two tackles for loss, two quarterback hits, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery.

"Three sacks, a forced fumble, fumble return touchdown, that's a nice job man. That's battling."

- Head Coach Dan Quinn on Vic Beasley Jr.

This is Beasley's first Player of the Week award. He is the third Falcon to win Player of the Week honors, joining WR Julio Jones (Week 4) and QB Matt Ryan (Week 9). He is the first Falcon defender to win Player of the Week since S William Moore in Week 13 of the 2012 season.
