Superintendent's Notes September 4, 2020

Happy Friday everyone! Thank you for a successful WEEK 2 of school! Congrats to Sandite Football for defeating Sapulpa last Friday night! The first home game of the season is tonight at 7:00 pm. If you get a chance, come out and support the Sandites! Check out the video from Ms. Sanders' PreK class at the Early Childhood Education Center. They definitely have the game day spirit!

The opening of the new Freshman Academy and STEM Center on the CPHS campus has been a big success for the district and community, but MOSTLY for our students. We held a Ribbon Cutting Monday morning with many folks from our community in attendance. We were especially thankful to our Board Members Jackie Wagnon and Mike Mullins who came to support. Representative Jadine Nollan and Senator Allison Ikley-Freeman also joined us for the occasion and Lt. Governor Matt Pinnell took the time out of his busy schedule to speak. Check out the media coverage from Fox 23!

Congratulations to Mr. Chris Corbin from Angus Valley who is Channel 6 Teacher of the Day! It's great to celebrate tremendous talent!

Meet Kyden Forrester, who is a Kindergarten student from Pratt participating in our Virtual Academy! Gotta love this! Photo Credit - Lavinda Forrester, Garfield!
Ms. Christie Blaylock has joined the team at the Virtual Academy teaching our elementary students! Here you see her working hard in, yes, prescription sunglasses, INSIDE, at her computer! I can so relate to this! I never can find my glasses!

Great news came this week from our Child Nutrition Director Ms. Sherry Pearson. We will now be able to provide meals to all students at NO COST due to the approval of a federal waiver! Please see the letter from Ms. Pearson here and share with your parents!

Our Early Learning Center at ECEC is up and running! The staff there are doing a tremendous job providing a great learning environment for some of our teachers' children! It's all about learning and having a whole lot of fun!
We choose our reactions to situations; choose positive!

Thanks for another extraordinary week of School! Have a great weekend all! ~Sherry
