36 Hours In California By: Zach Klaus

Lets start our trip with excitement and explore the entertainment capital of the world. From popular beaches to the Hollywood hills there are many things to do in Los Angeles. However, with only one day here, we have to make sure we spend our time wisely.

The beach is a perfect way to began your morning. Make your way over to the four and a half star Back On The Beach Cafe in Santa Monica to have breakfast and a swim. The Santa Monica pier is an amazing place to have fun with a ferris wheel, a roller coaster, and more in the package.

After you've had your fill at the beach make your way over to Hollywood. Commerson, another four and a half star American restaurant, is a quality place to have lunch. Hollywood is a great place for tourists to explore, shop, and take it easy.

When the sun begins to set in the west, make your way to the highly recommended NerdMelt Showroom. This comedy club is a great place to have a laugh and enjoy your time. Make sure not to stay too long as you will be driving tomorrow morning to our next destination.

With our first day a success it is time to move south to the beautiful San Diego. San Diego home of the Chargers and the world renowned San Diego Zoo is a must see. With great weather, beaches, and parks San Diego is a great place to travel to. Los Angeles to San Diego is about a two hour drive so, bring along a few snacks or pick something up along the way.

Make your way over to the San Diego Zoo. This is an easy place to spend the entire day at. Various restaurants are located throughout the zoo so you don't have to worry about getting hungry and, of course, there is much to see.

After you have had your fill of animals and walking, you can check into your hotel and take a break by the pool. When you get hungry and the sun sets, Hodad's is a great place to head to. Again, Hodad's is a highly recommended four star American restaurant.

If you have any plans you wanted to do while in California now would be a great time. Get some good rest tonight as you will have to make your way to the airport in the morning for your flight to the final destination!

San Francisco home of the Golden Gate Bridge is a fantastic place to end the trip. Known for cable cars, hills, amazing parks, and passionate culture this place is truely fascinating.

With your early flight, you are probably pretty exhausted. Bacon Bacon is a great place to eat breakfast and prepare for the day. Bacon Bacon is within walking distance of the beautiful Golden Gate Park. Golden Gate Park, as beautful as it is, also houses the California Academy of Sciences a museum with many exhibits and things to explore. Don't forget to take pictures and make memories along the way!

Of course, our next stop has to be the infamous Alcatraz island which you can get to from Alcatraz Cruises Ferry system. This island equipped with a lighthouse and prison is famous for its rumors of haunted rooms and a mysterious past. Taking a tour through its buildings should prove to be a very exciting and memorable experience.

To end your day and trip in California, I recommend going to one of two places. The first being The Walt Disney Family Museum. This is a great place to take kids and learn about what Walt Disney was all about and how Disney came to be. However, if you are not traveling with kids and want to experience something more cultural I would suggest going to the famous Chinatown. Exploring, sampling food, and shopping can all be done here.
