Missions Update February, 2019

Please pray for Matt & Jonna, our CWC missionaries to Central Asia!

  • Matt & Jonna live and work in a Central Asian country that is closed to missionaries. Matt's job organizing and coaching American football teams gives them the opportunity to build relationships and share the hope that is within them.
  • Matt & Jonna build natural friendships with the people around them - a referee, a shop clerk, a preschool dance teacher - and love them. These loving friendships allow them to ask questions to understand their friends' lives, and also to speak God's truth into the world and situations around them.

Please pray:

  • For protection for Matt & Jonna and their 4 young children. Pray especially for health and safety, as both have been issues in the past few years, and the medical care is far below American standards.
  • Please continue to pray for "Gayle", one of Matt & Jonna's friends. She traveled 26 hours by train to share the Gospel with her family last month. Pray that God will continue to use the words she shared to touch her family's hearts!
  • For God to be at work in their friends and neighbors' hearts. Jesus said, "No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws them..." (John 6:44) Pray God will draw them!
  • Wisdom as they disciple young believers in their area.
Evangelism in Haifa, Israel

Praise God for Pastor Zechariah, who leads a congregation of Messianic Ethiopian Jews in Haifa, Israel!

  • Praise God for the congregation's faithfulness in evangelizing in the streets of Haifa. They talk to those passing by and share Biblical literature. Several have received Yeshua (Jesus) as their Lord and Savior, been baptized, and are being discipled. Pray as they reach out to many who struggle with substance abuse, including Arab Israelis.
  • Pray for the congregation to be able to hire a part-time youth pastor.
  • Praise God that Pastor Zechariah was able to reduce his regular job in order to spend more time as a pastor and teacher.
  • Pray for Messianic children and teens, who face discrimination in the schools.
  • Pray for their expansion of their sanctuary. Praise God the congregation has grown enough to need it!
  • Pray against racial unrest and tension in Haifa.
Young Adults' Conference in Israel

Please also pray for Jeff & Naomi Cuozzo, who lead Tikvah, a discipleship program for Israeli youth. Tikvah will begin their first session in Bath, England (where the Cuozzos are planting a Calvary Chapel) in May, 2019. Praise God for the first ever conference for young adults held last month. Pray that God will bring the disciples He has called to participate in Tikvah this summer.

Bob & Esperanza Simons, Latin America

Praise God for Bob Simon's recent trip to Mexico to teach Mexican pastors & leaders Systematic Theology. An unusual rainstorm kept several pastors from attending the first meeting, but they still plan to attend future classes, which will be held every 2 weeks.

Please pray for:

  • Traveling mercies for Bob as he travels from California to Mexico on public transportation. Also for safe travel and good weather for the Mexican pastors and leaders as they travel to the class.
  • Please pray for Antonio and Benny, 2 of the pastors, that they will be built up as they learn to study the Bible well.

Praise God for Matt & Noelle Harris, our CWC missionaries in Northern Uganda!

  • Praise God for the Business as Mission portion of Matt's job, where he oversees agricultural projects to support the pastor training school he is working with. They are on track to be self-sustaining by 2021!
  • Praise God for their work milling rice and maize for the surrounding community. They also farm tilapia, raise chickens for eggs, and produce sunflower oil. Praise God for the Godly fragrance of life they are in the community around them!
  • Please pray for Noelle, as she has recently begun discipling a young woman in the community.
  • Praise God for the pastors in training! Please continue to pray that they are built up in the Word of God.
Pastor David, his wife Julian, and their baby Heaven

Praise God for Matt's friend, Pastor David Kizito. Pastor David and his wife Julian minister to Odongkicel Bible Community Church, and David is one of Matt's employees at their Business as Mission.

  • Please pray for the congregation, that they will be built up and love one another.
  • Also pray for provision of the Kizito's needs.
  • Pray that God will provide for Pastor David to be able to attend the Pastoral School of Discipleship in the future.
Eddie Broussard, Navigators

Please pray for Eddie Broussard, who is in leadership with the Navigators. Pray for him as he serves the Navigators' leadership in several meetings this month:

  • February 11-19 - the International Executive Team will meet and pray for God to show them how the ministry can best to cooperate with God in His Harvest all around the world.
  • February 13-14 - The International Executive Team will meet with Regional Directors and plan 2 major international events aimed at helping the Navigators become even more mission-focused.
  • February 16-17 - Please pray for Eddie as he gives two main messages at a gathering of business leaders, encouraging them to use their businesses as vehicles to expand God's Kingdom.
  • February 22-24 - Eddie will minister to International Board Chairmen as they seek to maximize their contribution to the ministry.
Linda Weber - France

Thank God for Linda Weber, our missionary to France. The gospel choir she leads, Harmony, was able to reach out to their friends and neighbors through a Christmas concert. Please pray for continued opportunities to share her faith with those around her!

Syrian Refugee Children

Please continue to pray for Mike, who reaches out to Syrian and Yazidi refugees in Lebanon and Iraq. Last year, he was able to deliver food, medicine, heaters, and more to the refugees, many of whom still are living in tents.

Mike broke his leg a week before he was due back in Iraq. Please pray for quick healing and a blessed return to Iraq soon. Please also pray for God to provide the refugees with their needs, but most of all, an understanding of the Gospel!

U-Turn for Christ - Florence, Colorado

Praise God for the ranch being built for U-Turn for Colorado, a ministry to men struggling with substance abuse!

Please pray for God to provide the $30,000 still needed to finish the ranch and make it ready for move in.

Please continue to pray for His Safe Haven, a ministry to children with special needs (and their families) in Liberia! Pray they will be able to continue to provide for these precious children, and that God will provide all that is needed to finish His Safe Haven Village, a community of foster homes.

Join the global work of missions by remembering our missionaries in prayer or supporting a missionary personally.

CWC missionaries receive only a small part of their mission funding and living expenses from the church. They are dependent on individuals who give.

When you pray or give, YOU are part of the Great Commission - going into all the world to spread the Gospel!

Be a part of the work God is doing at Calvary Worship Center!

Use your gifts to send CWC missionaries! In just 30 minutes a month, you can help pass out missions prayer cards after the service you regularly attend. Other options: help with Facebook posts, attend a missionary potluck, help with supply drives, or write encouraging cards to missionaries. If God is stirring you to participate in another way, please let us know!
