What is a Blizzard?
A blizzard is a storm that's usually in the winter. There are two types of blizzards. Type number 1 is where snowflakes fall and there are strong winds. Type number 2 is strong winds blow the snow that's already on the ground. Whiteouts are caused by snow in the air, ground and in the clouds. The air will be cold even after a blizzard so dress in warm clothes. Blizzards cause low visability and icy roads.
How are blizzards formed?
Blizzards are formed when cold air meets warm air. These two airs are called fronts. Then the vapor and crystals make snow. The last part of the cycle is a blizzard!
How long do blizzards last?
Blizzards are a storm that lasts 3 hours or more. If you have to go out in a blizzard, dress warm and don't go out for all the 3 hours! If you are stuck in a car in a blizzard you must have all these items in your car: a first aid kit, food, water, flashlight, pole (if you don't have an antennae) blankets,extra batteries, water proof matches, shovel, wind shield scraper, tool kit, jumper cable and a road map.
How powerful can blizzards by?
Blizzards have wind speeds up 35 mph!! Sometimes even enough to lift cars! With that much wind it has to be cold!
