What is Matter? by dawson mcfadden

What is matter, that is the question, matter is a substance in which occupies space and has mass like a pumpkin or a polar bear because it is made up of matter, matter is made up of two thing's pure substances and mixture's.
This is the table of matter.

So first i want to teach you about pure substances a pure substance is made up of the same atom or molecule. A pure substance is also made up of two things elements and compounds. A element is a substance that is made entirely up of 1 atom, like hydrogen and nitrogen now lets talk about compounds, compounds are thing's that are composed of two or more separate elements here is an example water or hydrogen oxide and remember the difference between elements and compounds is elements are made up of the same atom while compounds use different atoms or two or more different elements. here is a short video on elements and compounds.

Now on to the second more in depth part of matter, mixtures mixtures is a substance made by mixing other substances together hints the name their are two types of mixtures though homogeneous mixtures and heterogeneous mixtures. The first mixture i want to talk about is a heterogeneous mixture a heterogeneous mixture is when different materials can be easily identified such as a burger or a pizza. Now their is two more branches to heterogeneous mixtures such as colloids, colloids are a type of mix that are larger than those in solutions but not heavy enough to settle and the last branch of heterogeneous mixtures is suspension, suspension is a heterogeneous mixture containing a liquid in which you can see particles settle.

Now that i have told you about the first branch time for the second branch homogeneous mixtures a homogeneous mixture contains two or more substances blended evenly throughout though you cannot see the different substances in a homogeneous mixture like when you pour soda into a glass then it starts to bubble which causes you not to be able to tell the substances apart now a homogeneous mixture only has one branch and that is a solution a solution is a homogeneous mixture of particles so small that they cannot be seen without a microscope and will never settle to the bottom and they will stay evenly mixed.here is a video over homogeneous and heterogeneous mixtures to review over what we just learned

Now that i have answered your question on what is matter what is the next question you have for me ?
