Knightly News 10-5-2018 Edition

Good Evening Smith Knights and Knight Families: This has been a wonderful week at Smith Middle School. This week featured our 2nd U-Knighted day that featured a lesson and activities on digital citizenship and online safety. The discussions were phenomenal and I hope that students arrived home yesterday to tell you all about it. If you haven't had a conversation with your students about U-Knighted we hope that you take a moment this weekend to ask your student about this past U-Knighted. We also welcomed Mr. John Julian our Troy Schools Resource Office and Mr. Mark Dziatczak, Deputy Superintendent of Teaching and Learning to our building to present important information about our district ALICE training. Important training intended to empower staff and students during an violent intruder situation. Lastly, you may have already received email information that our conference scheduling online system is open and ready for you to schedule conferences for your students. parents are welcome to log into conference manager and complete their appointments with their student's teachers.

Request for Candy Donations to the Media Center

Are you doing any Halloween candy shopping this week? Mrs. Chatel is asking you to consider buying some boxes of Airhead candy to donate. During our annual book fair November 26-30, Mrs. Chatel sells Airhead candies for a quarter as an additional fundraiser. If you can’t volunteer at school but are looking for a way to contribute, you can buy boxes of full-size Airheads and drop them off at the main office for Mrs. Chatel. Or, if you’re an online shopper, bulk Airheads are on sale at Target or Amazon. Thank you so much for your support—your donation helps us to earn money to buy books for our Troybery reading program!
