Mark of Excellence Award
The Prosper Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band recently submitted last year's concert band competition performances to the National Wind Band Competition, hosted by The Foundation for Music Education. This competition seeks to recognize and award outstanding achievement in performance by high school and middle school bands, choirs, and orchestras. The project gathers hundreds of entries from throughout the United States and provides valuable feedback for all entrants, which allows ensembles to compare and compete against other outstanding groups from across the country.
We are proud to announce that the Prosper Wind Ensemble was one of eight bands in the nation to receive the designation as a National Wind Band Award Winner and one of seven bands in the nation to receive the designation as a New Music National Wind Band Winner. The Mark of Excellence Project seeks to recognize and award outstanding achievement in performance by varsity high school bands, choirs, and orchestras from a pool of competing ensembles throughout the nation. Both of these awards are the highest honors given by the Foundation of Music Education, and the Prosper Wind Ensemble was the only competing varsity band in the nation to receive both awards!
In addition, the Prosper Symphonic Band was one of five bands in the nation to receive the designation as a Citation of Excellence Award Winner. The Citation of Excellence Project seeks to recognize and award outstanding achievement in performance by non-varsity high school and middle school bands and orchestras from a pool of competing ensembles throughout the nation. This award is the highest honor given to non-varsity bands by the Foundation of Music Education.

Homecoming Week - September 20th-25th
Next Week is Homecoming week and all of its festivities that it brings! It is a busy week, so please begin to prepare.
- Monday - Regular Rehearsal
- Tuesday - Regular Rehearsal
- Wednesday - Homecoming Parade (call-time after school... Parade begins @ 6pm)
- Thursday - Regular Rehearsal
- Friday - Homecoming vs. Little Elm
- Saturday - Homecoming Dance (an optional non-band event for those interested in attending)
We do want to bring to your attention of a last minute change of the original plan for the homecoming parade. There will be a community pep rally after the Homecoming Parade on Wednesday that the band/colorguard has been asked to participate in. The pep rally has a anticipated start time at 8pm at the PHS turf football fields on the campus of Prosper HS. The pep rally will conclude with fireworks!
Homecoming Parade/Community Pep Rally Schedule
- 4:04pm - Report to the band hall to change into uniform. Snacks and water will be distributed.
- 4:45pm - Approx. time to be picked by buses to be transported over to Reynolds MS for the beginning of the parade.
- 6:00pm - Homecoming Parade begins. Parade will begin at Reynolds MS and end at PHS.
- 6:30pm - Approx time of when we return to PHS. Students will dress out of their uniform and dinner will be served before the community pep rally.
- 8:00pm - Approx. time of when the community pep rally will begin. Please check the weekly email sent by PHS Admin for details concerning any start/end times.
Football Game #5: Homecoming vs. Little Elm
Our fifth football game of the season will be at the Children's Health Stadium on Friday, September 24th.
What to bring to school for Friday:
- Dry Wick Shirt
- Long Black Socks
- Black Marching Shoes
- Filled Water Bottle
4:04pm - School Day Ends
4:15pm - Practice w/ Talonettes on the slab
4:45pm - Dinner is served
5:15pm - Dress out in uniform
5:35pm - Inspection complete and load in buses
5:45pm - Leave for CHS
7pm - Game Begins
10:30pm - Approx. time of arrival back at PHS (barring any stopped trains..... UGH)
REMIND 101 Communications
We are excited to offer immediate text communications through Remind 101, a direct text-messaging program. We will be using the Remind system for important and immediate information needed to be sent out to our parents such as updated arrival times from events and football games, last minute rehearsal changes, etc . We still will utilize our normal ways of communication; however this will help us to get information out quickly. This will not be used for general communications.
If you would like to sign up for this service and receive communications, we are required by Prosper ISD for all parents to fill out the following Google Form. Once you submit the form, you will be given a text code to send to 81010 (the Remind 101 text messaging service). Once you type the code in the text body, then you are enrolled... It is as easy as that!
