60's Music Draft Dodger Rag

Draft Dodger Rag was written and sung by Phil Ochs. It was released in 1965.

This is a verse from the song: "Ooh, I hate Chou En Lai, and I hope he dies,

One thing you gotta see

That someone's gotta go over there

And that someone isn't me

So I wish you well, Sarge, give 'em Hell!

Kill me a thousand or so

And if you ever get a war without blood and gore

I'll be the first to go."

This verse supports a widely supported opinion. Many people support the fight against communism in Vietnam, but not the violence, as Phil Ochs states "ooh, I hate Chou En Lai, and I hope he dies . . . and if you ever get a war without blood and gore, i'll be the first to go."

It supports the fight against communism, but protests the Vietnam War.
