Scoliosis-the side to side curvature of the spine

Kyphosis-the forwards curvature of the spine

Lordosis-the inward curving of the lower back

There are several treatment options for scoliosis, kyphosis, and lordosis depending on the degree of curvature in the spine such as a brace, surgery, physical therapy, stretching, and regular visits to the orthopedist.

Symptoms consist of :

  • pain
  • changes in how you walk
  • reduced range in motion
  • a visible curve or hunch

Signs of scoliosis or other back problems are:

  • leaning towards one side
  • uneven hips
  • muscle spasms
  • physical deformity in the back

Scoliosis, Kyphosis, and Lordosis can cause damage to the rib cage, lungs, and heart, constant pain, changes in physical appearance.




Around 2-3% of the US population has scoliosis. These back diseases mostly occur between ages 10 and 15.
