What's Happening at Timbers?

No School September 23rd!

Humble Strong

Our thoughts and prayers are with all Humble ISD families and staff affected by Tropical Storm Imelda. If your family has been impacted, please contact our Counselor, Marylana Collins, at 281-641-2000.

Spring Creek Spirit Night

Please join us on Tuesday, September 24th, at Spring Creek BBQ on 1960 for spirit night! We hope to see you there!

Lunch Visitors

We are pleased to have you visit our school and enjoy lunch with your child, Monday through Friday! You can assist us in keeping an orderly cafeteria by doing the following:

  • Check in and out at the front office. Do not follow your child to class or to the playground.
  • Please sit at the assigned parent table and eat with your child only. You may not invite friends to join you or share food.
  • Encourage your child to follow all established cafeteria rules.
  • When the quiet sign is given all children need to be quiet.
  • Be ready to dismiss when other students are dismissed.
  • Because of state funding, no one may eat from the student’s tray nor can food be taken from the cafeteria.
  • Younger siblings must stay seated at the table with you. Do not allow them to run around.
  • Teachers in the cafeteria are on duty and must supervise all students. Please call or write a note to conference with your child’s teacher.
  • If there is an issue with a student, please alert the front office. Do not address issues with other children.
  • Pictures and videos of students (other than your own) or teachers may not be taken.

Pennies for Patients

We're in the homestretch! Please continue supporting us in fighting childhood cancer! We are collecting Pennies for Patients to support the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in finding a cure. Every morning from September 3rd through September 26th scholars can bring pennies to school to drop in their grade level Coin Collector. The grade level that collects the most pennies will win a Popcorn Party! If you would rather donate online, please click here.

Humble ISD GT Referral Assessment Window

The Humble Gifted and Talented referral window is now open! Students may be referred for GT testing by parent(s), peers, teacher(s), other professional personnel, and/or themselves. Starting this year, there will be an online district testing portal. This portal will only be open during the assessment window(s) and will include parental permission to test, evaluate, and receive gifted program services. Parents of students who have been referred by teachers or other staff will be contacted to complete the online referral form. No student may be denied access to the Humble ISD Gifted and Talented Program on the basis of race, creed, or handicapping conditions. Referrals should be completed in the online portal on the Advanced Academics website. The portal will be available and open during the referral window (Grades 1-12: August 26 - September 27; Kindergarten: August 26 - December 20). You may access the District Referral Portal by clicking this link: Online Referral Form

Parents have through September 30, 2019, to pay field trip fees through RevTrak. If you have not already paid your child's field trip fees, please click here to make payment.

Astronomy Day in Houston

Saturday, October 5, 2019 is Astronomy Day in Houston. This year, because of problems at the normal location, Astronomy Day will be hosted at Humble ISD's own Insperity Observatory. The observatory will be open from 3:00 to 10:00 PM. There will be indoor presentations, outdoor presentations, a laser tour of the night sky, solar observing, night sky observing after sunset with the telescopes inside the observatory and also through telescopes set up in the parking lot, spectroscopy demonstrations, activities for children, and tours of our astronomy in art installations. We hope you can join us for this unique opportunity. The observatory is located at Jack Fields Elementary School, 2505 S. Houston Avenue, Humble. Parking will be in front of the school, and across the street in the parking lot of The Luke Church. The observatory’s website is https://www.humbleisd.net/observatory.

WATCH D.O.G.S

We are inviting all dads, stepdads, grandads, and other male father figures to be a part of our Watch D.O.G.S. volunteer group!

Step 1: Before participating in the program, all volunteer father figures will first need to complete an official Humble ISD volunteer application and background check online.

Directions to Volunteer Application: Please visit www.humbleisd.net, select “Departments” from the main page’s toolbar. Next, select “Community Development." Then, select “Volunteer in Humble ISD” located on the left side of the screen. Finally, select “Click here to start your application today” to begin the volunteer application.

Step 2: You will receive an email once your volunteer application has been approved by the district. You will need to contact Ms. McCoy at 281-641-2000 to verify the status of your application and to select an ideal day/time you would like to volunteer. (Note: There will be school days that we will not be able to have WATCH D.O.G.S. volunteers.)

Step 3: On the day of your volunteer work, you will check in with the front office. Then, you will have a mini orientation and will be given your daily schedule. It is imperative that all WATCH D.O.G.S follow their schedules.

Thank you for your interest! Timbers greatly appreciates you!

Attendance Reminders

When your child(ren) are absent from school, you must call the absence hotline at (281)641-2019 for each day absent, and send a note to school the day they return. If the school does not receive a phone call or note from a guardian, the absence is considered unexcused.

Student Birthdays

Parents may purchase a frozen birthday treat for their child’s class during their lunch time. Frozen treats may be purchased from the cafeteria for 75 cents each to be distributed after the children finish their lunch. Please notify the cafeteria at (281) 641-2008 one week prior to the event in order to have enough treats on hand for all interested. If parents wish to bring cupcakes to school, they may do so. However, please ensure that the treats are store bought as well as notify the teacher two days in advance so that the teacher has ample time to contact the parents of those with allergies arranging for an alternate treat. Parents may drop off the treats at the front office so that birthdays may be celebrated the final 20 minutes of the school day. As a reminder of district policy, students are not permitted to pass out party invitations at school.
