Their was many significant changes and things that stayed the same from the 1920's to the 1930's. The 1920's in America was a time when the economy was doing very well. In particular, farmers were doing well because they got lots of business from the war. But, when the war ended, farmers had too much surplus. Farmers had so much extra crops they did not know what to do with it all. Farmers ended up losing lots of money. It also did not help that the economy was doing poorly and America did not help the farmers. In the 1920's, farmers were doing very well, but in the 1930's, farmers were struggling. The thing that stayed the same is that farmers do well or poorly based on how the economy is doing. Also in the 1920's, Mexican Americans were allowed into the country. The role of government was a lot less strict. There was plenty of jobs for everyone, so the government did not care too much on who filled them. But, in the 1930's, getting a job was very difficult. The government gave Americans jobs before they gave Mexican Americans jobs. The government sent Mexican Americans out of the country because America could not accommodate them. The thing that stayed the same is that the government acts in how the economy is doing. In the 1920's, a women's home life was very fun. Flappers wore short dresses and did not care what others thought. Women had lots of free time. The economy was doing very well, so they could have lots of fun. In the 1930's, however, women had to stay at home and cook in clean for their families. Times were different because of the Great Depression. They were the same because whenever America is doing well financially, women can have fun. But when America is not doing well financially, women have to work hard for their families. In the 1920's, African Americans played jazz and showed their talents in their leisure time. It was a great time for them, and their was an explosion of black talent called the Harlem Renaissance. However, in the 1930's, African Americans had no leisure time. They had to work in all the jobs that none of the whites wanted, for many hours. They went from the Harlem Renaissance, to having no leisure time. The thing that stayed the same is that African American did well when America did well, and bad when America was failing. Overall, their are many differences and similarities between the 1920's and 1930's.
