Army Cadet Force National First Aid Competition 7th & 8th october 2017 - ctc yardleY chase

The Inter Services National First Aid Competition 2017 brought together a host of young people from all across the United Kingdom & Northern Ireland. Members of the Army Cadet Force (ACF), Combined Cadet Force (CCF), Sea Cadets (SCC), St. John Ambulance (SJA) Cadets and for the first time Volunteer Police Cadets, all with one goal; to be crowned 2017 National First Aid Champions.

The cadets faced a series of challenging first aid scenarios, which included the use of Casualty Simulation makeup as well as some amazing acting which brought realism and excitement to the tests. With simulated injuries which included asthma attacks, heart attacks, open leg fractures, burns and severe bleeding, the cadets where tested to their limits.

The competition consisted of both Individual tests, where the cadets had to seek help from bystanders, make an emergency call and manage the first aid and the situation alone.

To team tests where communication was crucial.

The competition was split into two main categories; The Youth section (for cadets under 18 years of age) and a "Young Adult" Section (which gave Cadet Force Adult Volunteers (CFAV's) below the age of 25 a unique opportunity to compete against Adults from other cadet forces).

Each cadet force brought into the event their own competitions on the Saturday, With the winners and runners up from each discipline competing in the Inter-services competition on Sunday.

This years 2017 National First Aid Cadet Champions were Dollar Academy CCF.

With the 2017 National First Aid Young Adult Champions being Durham ACF.

First Aid remains a core syllabus subject in all of the uniformed cadet forces. It is one of the many skills on offer to cadets and CFAV's and allows both cadets and adults to be trained and certified up to Level 3 First Aid at Work; giving a transferable qualification that can be used externally in the workplace. All of the cadets who took part put in an amazing effort and demonstrated all that is good from cadet forces today.
