New Works at the Gallery KARAM

ABOUT THE ARTIST -

Karam

After graduating with a BFA in Visual Communications from the Parsons School of Design in New York City, Karam, originally from Seoul, Korea, moved to Oklahoma City to pursue a career in Graphic Design. Karam’s love of painting, and interest in developing a unique art form, prompted her to change careers. Initially using pointillism, a technique of painting in which small distinct dots of color are applied in patterns to form an image, Karam began to paint landscapes and abstracts. In time, her paintings became more and more textured through her practice of forcing pigment through cake decorating tubes. In this yet another new series of paintings, Karam forces acrylic paint into piping bags and uses wide tips to make strips that are long and wide. Once created, the strips are allowed to dry before Karam weaves them into abstract patterns. Karam’s work is unique, colorful and difficult to produce.
