Constitution & Bylaw Changes at State Convention 2017
Oregon FFA Alumni Annual Business Meeting
Sunday, March 26th at 12:00 in North Sister Odell & Haystack
The Oregon FFA Alumni Council has voted to recommend changes to the Oregon FFA Alumni Constitution and Bylaws for the Oregon FFA Alumni membership’s consideration. We will be seeking your approval of these recommended changes at the March 26, 2017 Oregon FFA Alumni Annual Business Meeting in Redmond, Oregon.
The proposed language changes are highlighted in Yellow color. The language to be deleted has a strikethrough it and the new language is highlighted. You will notice that the Constitution and Bylaws are now is two separate documents on the buttons below.
In a nutshell there are three concepts that are being addressed with the changes you will see.
1. Housekeeping. There is obsolete language and administrative changes such as removal of the words “State and Association” in our name. When reading our current name many people believe our organization is affiliated with the Oregon State University or as part of the Oregon FFA Association.
2. President-Elect nominees to have 2 years of service on the Council. Your current Council is recommending to add a requirement that nominees for the Oregon FFA Alumni Council position of President-Elect have at least 2 years of service on the Council. The intent is to ensure that Council leaders have current experience and knowledge of local, state and national policies and potential issues. This impacted language found in the Constitution Article V: Executive Body.
3. Assure financial compliance. The Bylaws have specific language about the financial nature of our organization and the Council voted unanimously to include language to assure compliance and mitigate risk in Article VI: Fiscal Year.
If you have any questions regarding these changes, please contact me or any Council member. You can reach me at Robert.schmidig@fosterfarms.com
I am excited about the direction Oregon FFA Alumni is headed and in our role in serving Oregon FFA and Agriculture Education. Please join us at the Annual Business Meeting during the 2017 State Convention to weigh in and support the advancement of our growing organization.
Please join us Sunday, March 26th at Noon for the Oregon FFA Alumni Annual Business Meeting
