Is Religious Freedom Being Oppressed? Living with religion as a literacy

Being a religious person has really influenced the way I perceive certain topics. Although, many times, I feel as if I can't even input my opinion on controversial topics because I fear that it will be heavily criticized. While being literate in religion is something that I am not ashamed of, the world around me tries to shame and make a joke out of it. The religion that will be my main focus will be my own, Christianity.

In John 15:20 it reminds us that Jesus was persecuted when he walked the earth, and that we will have to encounter similar situations soon.

I don't think that I am the only religious person who feels this way. Compared to a couple years ago, I think that everyone can agree that the times have definitely changed. And changed in the way that is not very beneficial for religious people. Now it is a lot harder to oppose things that you believe to be morally wrong. Growing up while going to church all the while, develops the ideas and beliefs that you later have. This I say from my own personal experience.

The Lord's creations are breathtaking.

The teaching of evolution has been around for a long time. The amount of time that evolution has been taught in schools has also been around for quite some time. It is not a new way of thinking or believing. However, it is a really dangerous and threatening beliefs to Christians. It goes against that idea that there is a divine creator and it brings forward the idea that man evolved from monkey. Evolutionists are really quick to claim what they believe in but have no actual solid evidence to back it up with. It has gotten to the point that some Christian parents are afraid to send their children to school because they are worried about the false teachings taking place. The teaching of evolution is commonly forced upon students starting as early as they have a science class at school (5th or 8th grade).

"Then God said,“Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” Genesis 1:26.

One of the ways that my religious literacy started influencing me was why back in middle school. I remember sitting in an eighth grade science class listing to the teacher drone on and on about evolution. He would always say things along the lines of "I don't care if you are Christian, this is the way that evolution teaches it." I remember that I was really angry that he would never even acknowledge any other arguments besides the one he believed in. That was when I first experience oppression for my beliefs. After that, I noticed that it slowly kept growing and growing. All my life growing up and learning that evolution was wrong, here was some old man trying to tell me otherwise.

"Children are a heritage from the LORD, offspring a reward from him." Psalm 127:3.

Not only Christians, but a lot of other religious people seem to have a problem with abortion. And there is no reason that they shouldn't. Killing children before they even see the light, does that really make us humans? We are cold-blooded murders not humans. How does one kill and sleep peacefully at night. Abortion prevents the future generation from populating the earth. You have no idea what your child's future may hold. You have no idea what great things they may do, what they will contribute to society. And yet, you still don't give them a chance. I don't think that a women has a right to make that decision.

Children are a blessing from the Lord. Not every women can give birth and some have a really hard time giving birth. Some women even put their life at stake to give birth to a little miracle. Women who can give birth with no problems are greatly blessed and yet they throw this blessing away.

This adorable child would have not existed if her mother decided to abort her.

I am really against abortion and I have a good reason to be. Before I was born, the doctors told may parents that I would be a handicapped child with a lot of problems. They suggested that my parents get rid of me. However, my parents did not take their advice, they prayed and believed that I would be a normal healthy child. When the time came, I was born a healthy child with no problems at all. This situation contributes to the literacy that I already had before but with a more impacted effect. I believe that abortion is morally wrong and the people that do contribute are also morally wrong and have a twisted view of the world.

"Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. They will not be put to shame when they contend with their opponents in court." Psalm 127:5

Gender Roles

There are not many things that young children should be worrying about and whether to be a boy or a girl, should definitely not be one of them. Children attending Kindergarten, should be busy learning how to read and write but not be wasting time learning to experiment with gender. Do young children really need to be exposed to the corruption of this world at such a young age? No, they don't. So why? Are teachers running out of things to teach? There is absolutely no valid reason to corrupt children when they are just barley starting to develop.

Irina's mom has expressed her concern for the gender experiment issue and sending her daughter to school where her child will be exposed to such teachings.

This topic is one that makes me wonder, how this law got passed in some many states? And why was there no major opposition to it? The way that I see it is that religious people are used to being oppressed and don't think that it will make a difference if they oppose such a nonsensical law. I consider all of this to be morally wrong. Going to church and reading the Bible, has really influenced my religious literacy. Being religious literate is what helps me decide what to believe in and what to consider right and what to consider wrong.

This topic is the one that is most hotly debated today. This is the topic that people are really afraid to express their opinion on. Whether they fear being sued or sent to jail, many Christian people keep quiet about this topic. This is also a topic that I am really afraid to say anything about. There have been cases where Christian pastors refused to marry a gay couple and they were taken to court. One pastor even got a year of jail. Now looking at all of this, is this not oppression? It is.

"Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men" 1 Corinthians 6:9

I also consider homosexuality to be morally wrong. The reason that I believe this is because in the Bible it states multiple times that it is a sin and that God has destroyed cities who converted to such sinfulness. I also really do think it is quite gross and revolting. My religious literacy ties into this because it has influenced the way that I look at homosexuality. I see it as just wrong, no other way. That doesn't mean that I hate homosexual people, I just don't like the sin that they commit.

"If a man has sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They are to be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads." Leviticus 20:13

So now I ask of you, what will you do about this? What action or steps will you take to prevent furthering this corruption? If you do decided to do something, it will not be easy. Do you really want to continue living in this kind of world? Fellow Christians, I know you feel oppressed and now is the time to do something, now is the time to stand up for what you believe in and hold strong onto your beliefs and literacies.

"So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin." James 4:17
