Venice is a lovely place at the top of Italy's boot. It is by the Adriatic sea and is near Slovakia. It is a really cool place, not only because it's in Italy but because it is very unique, and not like any city in the world........ Instead of streets it has canals, you don't drive a car, you have a boat! and on top of that it has historical landmarks and great food.
For one person to go to Venice it will most likely cost up to $1,500-$2,000 just to get there, if you take a plane. Cruises to Italy are very limited in the spring, they also are very expensive, and you obviously can't drive. The plane is your best option. It will have many layovers and take about 19 hours.
So this is not a cheap trip, but it's well worth the money. Now hotels are about the same as America, the nicer ones are a little pricey, most hotels range from $50-$200 a night, for one person. And if you plan to stay for a week bring a little extra money, you need food and water, and if you need transportation; you'll need money. Each meal ranges from 10-20 USD and transportation is 50-100 USD so you'll probably need about $150 per day, not including going anywhere, like museums or gondola rides. It would be safe to say you'll spend $200-$400 a day, depending on where you eat or what you do. So if you add that all up $200 a day times 5 days, that's about $1,000. That's a large chunk of money. So you'll need to save up.
Now, let's talk about what you'll actually be spending that money on. Here are a few of the top places you can go in Venice. One is, Saint Mark Saint; It is a Roman Catholic cathedral. It is gorgeous building and has a courtyard that always has birds. Next is taking a gondola ride on the grand canal. The grand canal is a very large canal. It has lots of businesses around it. And last but not least is the Gallerie dell'Accademia, this is an amazing museum and it has many artists from the 19th century.
What are you going to eat? Italy has very unique food, lets see what you can expect. Risotto al nero di seppia (squid ink risotto) - Risi e bisi( Rice in pea shell broth with assorted vegetables)- Fritole (Kind of like a fritter; a deep fried batter seasoned). Some of these seem strange, but if you don't try it you'll never know if you like it.
Overall this trip will be very fun. It may take a few years to save up for, but in the end it is worth the money and the wait. it is a once in a lifetime experience you won't regret.
