What is a metaphor?

A metaphor is a creative figure of speech that is applied to ordinary or normal objects or every day happenings to make it more interesting or to make it easy to understand.

Songs and their Metaphors

Titanium - In the lyrics it says "I am Titanium" which is a metaphor for being strong so nothing can hurt you. Another metaphor is "I bullet proof" which has a similar meaning of nothing can hurt you.

Firework - The songs chorus says "'Cause baby your a firework" which says everyone has a spark and can do amazing things, like a firework.

Don't go chasing waterfalls - TLC's song had a big metaphor from the chorus. "Don't go chasing waterfalls" which means that although somethings may seem beautiful they are dangerous and you shouldn't go chasing them but instead just stick to what you know or something safe that won't hurt you.

Treasure - He is referring to someone as a treasure meaning they are special and precious.

Chained to the rhythm - She is referring to those people who are living happy lives with our trouble and who don't want to see the problems that need to be solved in the world

Can't be Tamed - Miley is saying that she his wild and not one can control her.

Bible Passage Metaphors

Proverbs 13:14 The teaching of the wise is a fountain of life. - This passage is saying that the wise have so much information about life which we should drink up to live a healthy life.

Isaiah 64:8 But now, O Lord, You are our Father, We are the clay, and You our potter; And all of us are the work of Your hand. - God created all of us and we are the children of him.

Psalms 23:1 The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. - The lord is our father and we listen to him as he guides us.

My Bible Metaphors

Psalm 62:2 Truly he is my rock and my salvation, he is my fortress, I will never be shaken. - God is our core and while he is with us, our belief will never be swayed.

Psalm 28:9 Save your people and bless your inheritance; be their shepherd and carry them forever. - Be their shepherd means to lead and to show what is right.
