Diwali

We had a lovely week celebrating Diwali. The children listened to stories about the festival and made some lovely lights. They did this by manipulating clay into diyas and when the clay dried they were beautifully decorated. The children also made Rangoli patterns to represent happiness and good luck.

We also enjoyed chopping pumpkins this week and looked carefully what was inside. The children were fascinated to find pumpkin seeds and did a great job counting how many seeds they could see and then adding them together.

We did some brilliant observational drawings of autumn leaves and I was really impressed to see the detail in each one. The children noticed the different colours of the leaves and drew the finer details like the veins and the patterns they made.
