Celine Dion By Sydney Grogan

Early Life
Celine was born in Charlemagne, Quebec, Canada on March 30, 1968. Her parents formed a singing group, Dion's Family, and they toured Canada when Celine was still an infant. Her parents are Adhémar Dion and Thérèse Dion, and she's the youngest of 14 children.

From an early age, Dion had dreamed of being a performer. At the age of five she performed at her mother's wedding and was also in the family singing group they created. She grew up singing in her parent’s piano bar and recorded her first song at age twelve.

Education

Celine went to West Humber Collegiate in Toronto, but she never graduated and then never went to college. She was prepared for her career because of her childhood experiences with singing and performing.

Celine's music has been influenced by numerous genres, including pop, rock, gospel, R&B and soul. She has said that she grew up listening to Janis Joplin, The Doobie Brothers, and Creedence Clearwater Revival. Celine has expressed admiration for Whitney Houston, whom she has been compared to often.

Adult Life
Celine eventually married her manager, Rene Angelil, the manager who she first met at age twelve. The couple have a 26 year age difference. She and Rene publicly dealt with infertility but ended up having three sons, René-Charles, Eddy, and Nelson Angelil,

Despite growing up in a devoted Roman Catholic area of Quebec, Celine says that her belief in God isn't tied to the church. “It’s important for people to have something they can touch and believe in, I say that to believe in yourself is to believe in God. For me, God is life itself, the birds, the air, the sunrise and the sunset, the children. Yes, that is where I find God. Not in a church.” she said.

Celine Dion is a French Canadian singer and businesswoman. Some of her major awards include Canada's Walk of Fame in 1999, Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2004, and the Chopard Diamond Award for her achievements.
One interesting thing about Celine Dion is that she sings frequently in English and in French, but she has also sang in Spanish, German and Japanese. Also, she recorded nine French albums and won numerous awards by the time she was 18. These two are interesting to me because I can't imagine have accomplishing and doing these things at such an early age.
Celine is one of the biggest-selling artists in music history, no one will ever sell the amount of albums she sold ever again. But however, her legacy isn't clear. But by the end of the decade, when she passes, her impact in her field will be more explicit.
