CHERNOBYL NUCLEAR ACCIDENT OF 1986 Ukraine, 1986

the CHERNOBYL nuclear accident of 1986 was caused by many factors

THE REACTORS HAD MANY FLAWS IN THEIR DESIGN, LIKE THE CONTROL RODS. THE REACTORS ALSO HAD AN UNEDUCATED CREW.

THE UKRAINIAN NUCLEAR MELTDOWN EFFECTED THE COUNTRY GREATLY! UKRAINE RELIED ON NUCLEAR POWER FOR 50% OF THEIR ELECTRICITY. THEY ALSO RELY ON RUSSIA TO GIVE THEM THE FUEL FOR THE REACTORS.

THE EXPLOSION LED TO A NUMBER OF PLANTS GETTING KILLED BY THE RADIATION. THE SITE LOST A LOT OF HUMAN LIFE AS WELL! but, the plants will come back. THIS TYPE OF RECOVERY IS CALLED SECONDARY SUCCESSION. THAT MEANS THAT SOIL IS THERE ALREADY. ALSO, RADIATION KILLED 90% OF THE SURROUNDING ORGANISMS.

the succession is a restoration of an environment after a disaster, such as this nuclear spill! other natural disasters can cause environmental damage! man obviously caused this to happen because we created the reactors. Large areas of 20 miles or less are effected by radiation. the accident took them by surprise. they had no idea it would explode!

many new regulations are in use today so that this wont happen again!
