Celebrating 150 Years of Canada NAVRAJ KLAR CGC-1D0

Canada has been around for a century and a half. It has gained a lot over this time period. Canada deserves to be celebrated for the many things that it gives to us. To help encourage this, I will point out three of the best things that I believe that Canada has to offer throughout this page. Three of the best things that I believe that Canada has to offer are the Toronto Maple Leafs, Health Care, and Tourist Attractions.

Toronto Maple Leafs

The first thing that I believe that this country is best known for is the Toronto Maple Leafs. Hockey is a really big part of my life. As a Canadian myself, I play rep ice hockey which is my passion. I also am a die-hard Toronto Maple leafs fan, I stay up to watch every single game and know quite a lot about them. The Maple Leafs were first introduced in 1917. They weren't always called the Toronto Maple Leafs though, they had two different names before which were the Toronto St. Patricks and the Toronto Arenas. The Toronto Maple leafs, St. Patricks, and Arenas have combine to win 13 Stanley Cups, their last Stanely Cup win was in 1967. ("Toronto Maple Leafs") They were part of the "Original Six" that consists of the Boston Bruins, Chicago Blackhawks, Detroit Red Wings, Montreal Canadiens, New York Rangers, and Toronto Maple Leafs. These teams were the first to establish the "NHL" which stands for National Hockey League. (Miser) This is a really unique team in the National Hockey League because it brings fans together and shows us that we must all stand as one behind our team and cheer them on. During the 2013 playoffs, which was their most recent playoff appearance I stayed up until 12:30 am on a school night night just to cheer on the team. Even though it didn't end as i wanted it to, I would say it was worth staying up with my cousins that night. So this team brings us very close, which shows that Canada is a very welcoming country.

Health Care

The second thing that I believe this country best offer to us is the fact that we have free health care. In 1947 it all started, the government of Saskatchewan decided to introduce publicly funded health care to their province, in 1950 British Columbia and Alberta also caught on to this idea. Eventually all provinces and territories introduced i in their respective provinces and territories and the Canadian Government introduced the Canada Health Act in 1984. (Canada's Health Care System). The Canadian Health Act states that all Canadian citizens have the right to have health insurance. We call it "free health care" but the money comes from the taxes that our parents are paying and some expenses aren't covered, so you must pay with you're own money. (After You Arrive: Health Care in Canada). This is an important part of Canada because not all families or individuals can afford the luxuries of health care, so Canada introduced "Free Health Care". Other countries may not have this luxury that we do in Canada.

Tourist Attractions

The last thing that I believe that the best of what Canada has to offer is the tourist attractions. There are lots of attractions all over the country. For example in Banff, Alberta there is a really popular attraction called Banff National Park. Banff National Park is one of five national parks in the Canadian Rocky Mountains that attract millions of visitors each year for camping, hiking, biking, skiing, fishing or just relaxing. There are resort towns in Banff and there is Lake Louise, which are both located within Banff National Park. The most talked about is the CN Tower located in the heart of downtown Toronto. It is estimated 1815 ft tall free standing structure. Its located in Toronto, Ontario. It was completed in 1976 and was the tallest free styanmding structure at the time. Another tourist attraction that yo might have heard about is Parliment Hill. Parliment Hill is located in Ottawa, Ontario and it is well known for its Parliment Building tours. Ottawa is also Canada's capital city. ("Attractions Canada")

Conclusion

In conclusion these are the tree things that I believe Canada has best to offer. I also love Canada because of all the benefits we get and how well privileged we are to have these things at our disposal.
