Islam started in the 7th century in Mecca. Their prophet is Mohammed. Mohammed delivered the message of their monotheistic God, Allah. Islams holy book is the Quran, and they worship in a mosque. There are 2 branches: Sunni and Shia. A key holiday is Ramadan, which is a month long fast from dawn to night. Islam is connected to Christianity and Judaism.
