December 2020 Newsletter

Wood Creek Civic Association's Annual Meeting was held on Thursday, October 29, 2020 and called to order at 7:05 p.m by President Ryan Coyne. The meeting was held at Faith Baptist Church and mask and social distancing guidelines were followed.

Representative Mike Ramone provided a legislative update and discussed community issues. The improvements at the Pike Creek Shopping Center were discussed, including the partial demolition of the Kmart store and the closure of the WSFS bank. The permitting of solicitors was also discussed and attendees provided feedback on how the law could be improved.

The Treasurer's Update from Dave Bailey mentioned that 93% of households have paid their 2020 dues and a certified notice will be going out to delinquent owners. He also went over the WCCA Financial Report.

Michele Davis's update included a discussion on the cancellation of 2020 community events due to the pandemic and 2021 schedule will be determined closer to the spring events.

Our safety director, Rick Rokita, provided an update on road improvements - 3 streets have been designated for 2021 upgrades. Deed restriction enforcement is ongoing and there is one more year left on our current snow/ice contract. He will also contact the NCC Community Policing Unit to schedule police enforcement of driving violations.

IN MEMORMIUM - Michele acknowledged the passing of our webmaster, Don Gallagher, earlier in the month. Don, with his wife Pat, have been long-time residents and volunteers for Wood Creek. WCCA extended our condolences to Don's family.

Ryan informed the group that he does not plan to run for a Board position but would like to continue to help out on the beautification committee and the web page. Nominations were then opened up and elections will be held for all offices. Bill Pharis was elected President, Vice President received no nominations, Michele Davis was elected Secretary and Dave Bailey as Treasurer.

The meeting was concluded with the Board requesting the need for volunteers in Wood Creek - PLEASE CONSIDER HELPING YOUR NEIGHBORS KEEP WOOD CREEK A GREAT PLACE TO LIVE. To help, please email Bill Pharis at luvpup1212@yahoo.com.

Santa and Friends Visit 2020

Santa and friends will be visiting the neighborhood on Saturday, December 19 at 5 p.m. They will be riding on the firetruck through our streets to give everyone a chance to wave hello.

Mill Creek Fire Company plan to follow the following route to try and visit as many streets as possible:

Entrance to Woodward - Bayberry - Greenwood to Bluegrass - Greenwood to Jasmine - Sweetleaf - Greenwood then exit the neighborhood.

Please note that they will NOT be stopping at the park this year.

When the weather forecast includes the possibility of snow and/or ice, the Board asks that all residents park vehicles in their driveways to keep streets open for the snow plows and salt trucks and general safety.
