Finnish singer/songwriter Peppina is making waves around the world by showing off her talents on YouNow. The Helsinki native live streams original songs, as well as acoustic renditions of tunes like Adele’s “Send My Love (To Your New Lover)” and John Legend’s “All of Me,” usually accompanying herself on guitar or piano while sporting her signature fedora. “You never know what will happen if you share your art,” the wise-beyond-her-years 20-year-old says, though we do know that it has gained her hundreds of thousands of YouNow views. She also headed to the SXSW festival in March 2016 to showcase songs from her debut EP Follow Your Gravity.

The Shorty Awards honor the best of social media by recognizing the influencers, brands and organizations on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Tumblr, Instagram, Snapchat, Vine and more. Winners are chosen through a combination of votes from the public and scores given by the Real Time Academy.

In a moment when social media and TV are converging, YouNow remains proud to provide a product that fuses the experience of broadcasting, gaming, performing and social networking, giving direct power to the people and enabling them to discover and create new kinds of interactive content in real-time.

“You never know what will happen if you dare to share your art,” Peppina says. “For a long time I thought, ‘I can’t be an artist. That won’t happen.’ But denying myself made me really unhappy. I realized that I don’t choose to make music – I just do. It’s how I live. It’s what I am.”
