SAT-7 Easter Devotional A Four-Part Blog Series Reflecting Themes from SAT-7's Devotional Titled "This Is Love"

Let's continue our series on the theme "This is Love" by looking at our third group of the four different people groups and their relationships. We'll observe this group in the context of Middle Eastern and North African culture and look at how you can join with SAT-7 in proclaiming God's love to families this Easter.

Part 3: children and parents

"Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it." proverbs 22:6
Children in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) grow up in a culture where there is minimal Christian guidance. In a typical family, fathers tend to be the breadwinners—responsible for the financial well-being of the family, while mothers maintain the home and rear the children. While society is progressing, there are still unequal gender roles, and models of love and respect may not be as prevalent within the family.

Over 80% of children in the MENA region experience violence in the home.

  • SAT-7 programs are helping parents develop healthier relationships with their kids by offering communication and problem-solving strategies, parenting advice, and an interactive forum for parenting support.
  • They also offer better methods of discipline that are in stark contrast to traditionally-accepted methods of violence which lead to psychological and physical abuse.
  • The goal of the programs is to help families thrive and show parents what it means to love and support their children.

Children grow up according to the values instilled in them at a young age. If they are shown what love and Biblical Truth look like from their parents and/or role models, then they will have a strong foundation of what 'knowing God' means as they transition into adulthood.

SAT-7 has an entire channel fully devoted to children called SAT-7 KIDS. The programs aired on SAT-7 KIDS teach Christian values to children in a fun and interactive way. Since many kids don't come from a Christian background, SAT-7 meets the need for kids to have Biblical role models (considered to be like spiritual parents) on their programs.

join with us in prayer

Pray for the children and their parents in the region, that they will be open to hearing about Christ and allow His love to grow in their hearts and in their families. Pray that children will understand how much God loves them and know the value they hold because they belong to Him.
"This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us." 1 John 3:16
