AUGUST 2017 ABBA'S PRIDE MINISTRY UPDATE

AUGUST 2017

We are often asked, “Where did the name Abba’s Pride come from?”

Romans 8:15 reads, "The Spirit that we have makes us God’s chosen children. And with that Spirit we cry out, 'Abba Father.'” Abba is a name for God that conveys his loving father, daddy, character. Through early childhood programs and after school programs it is our desire that all children will come to know God as their loving father, their Abba, daddy. It is also our desire that all children will come to know that they are His chosen children, His pride and joy. They are His workmanship.

Because we are all God’s children, Abba’s Pride believes its mission extends to adults. Children who know the love of Christ need adults who know that same love. This is why we are committed to pouring God’s love into the lives of adults through activities such as training early childhood teachers, marriage retreats, and church leadership trainings. We bring hope to communities through wells that provide vegetable garden irrigation and water for daily needs.

This update is filled with miraculous ways that Abba Father continues to show His love for the people of South Africa. Rejoice in His goodness as you see all that He has done. We thank each of you! Your prayers and financial donations assist in responding to the needs of people as they cry out, “Abba Father.”

Trailer Ministry 2017

Trailer Ministry 2017 was a huge success. Our goal was to help Faith Restoration run their own holiday club by the end of the week. That goal was reached! By Wednesday the leaders from Faith Restoration were stepping up and leading the program. Over 95 children came and heard about how Jesus's love for them is deeper than anything in this world. Also, over 50 children and adults made a decision to follow Christ after The Jesus Film on Wednesday night! Thank you to all of the volunteers (from Community Bible Church in Pennsylvania, Eastside Community Church here in Pretoria, and Faith Restoration in Winterveld) who made the week happen!

Serve South Africa 6 Week Internship Program

Serve South Africa 2017 was an amazing 6 weeks packed full of hard work and fun! The interns helped plan and lead all aspects of trailer ministry and were immersed in South African culture as they spent a week living with families in rural communities. They each worked hard to plan and implement a project that would have lasting value in the communities where they were ministering. We all grew together socially, emotionally, and spiritually as we learned how to best help those in need and what it means to find true joy in Christ. It was a life changing experience for all of us!

A New School!

After 7 months of grind, Abba's Pride attended the opening of our first ECD center in Winterveld, northwest of Pretoria. It was a a wonderful occasion attended by many in the community. There was much joy and praise songs sung by all and an occasion that I will remember forever. First of all, I would like to give our wonderful God all the glory and praise for His provision in making this project possible and then to all the members of Pastor George's church and community who helped raise this beautiful center for the under-privileged children in the area. We also need to thank Neville Arendse for the many Saturdays he tirelessly gave a hand in particular with the electrical work. May all be truly blessed. - Julian Marsay

ECD Teacher Training Programs

Abba's Pride is blessed to partner with 9 rural creches (preschools) and assist with teacher training through our ECD GUILD Program. Over the past couple of months our teachers have been busy! From gathering together for hands-on trainings, to being spoiled with love at a pampering day, to being challenged to take their classrooms to the next level, we have had a blast! With just a few more months in the 2017 school year, we are excited to continue working with these teachers to help them become the best teachers they can be!

Throughout the year we also host ECD Community Training Days in KwaMhlanga. On a typical Saturday you can expect between 50 - 100 practitioners who are eager to learn more! The day starts with praise and worship, followed by breakout sessions where the teachers can do hands-on learning! The day ends with a devotion before the teachers make their way home.

Water! Water! Water!

We would like to thank our ministry partners in the States for the financial donation that allowed us to install a borehole/well that will serve the communities of Winterveld and Mmakaunyana, South Africa. Pastors and community leaders gathered to ask the Lord's blessing on the site and dedicate it to His service. The water will be used to irrigate the farm and will provide fresh vegetables to both communities as well as the new early childhood center in Winterveld. Thanks also to our ministry partners at Pioneer Plastics for the donation of the 5000L water tank.

Many Helping Hands

June, July, and August are always our busiest seasons. Typically schools in the States are on holiday which allows volunteers to travel and spend time with us. During this year's busy season, we were blessed with many helping hands. From Thailand (Sarah and Esther) to Community Bible Church (Marietta, PA) to Coastal Community Church (Virginia Beach, VA), every helping hand was a blessing! Thank you to each one of you who gave up some of your holiday to come love on our partnering churches!

We are also blessed with many helping hands here in Pretoria! Thank you to all of our friends at Eastside Community Church and Sungarden Nursery School who volunteer their time and talents!
