Our two facilities, the Arrillaga Center for Sports & Recreation (ACSR) and the Arrillaga Outdoor Education & Recreation Center (AOERC), serve as our home for "inspiring a healthier Stanford." Since the inception of the AOERC in 2013, both facilities have been filled to capacity with our class offerings, special programming and more.

Stanford Club Sports brings together more than 1,200 athletes with the common goal of creating an environment that fosters student development and leadership through sports. Teams compete in intercollegiate competitions at the highest level, while offering opportunities for participants of all skill levels from beginning to experienced players.

Stanford Women's Ultimate
In May 2016, Stanford Women's Ultimate (also known as Stanford Superfly) cemented their mark in college ultimate by winning the 2016 USA Ultimate Division 1 National Championship. Stanford defeated the Whitman Sweets 12-10 in a hard fought battle. Stanford's victory not only earned the squad their eighth national championship since 1995 but also solidified their position as the winningest program in college ultimate history.
Stanford Intramural (IM) Sports provides formal competition leagues to our campus community in a variety of team and individual sports. IM Sports also provide four different divisions (DI, DII, DIII & COREC) to accommodate players of all skill levels. Furthermore, special one-day tournaments, such as the Stanford Dodgeball Tournament, have been created to accommodate students on tighter schedules but looking to play.

Summer IM Sports
In summer 2016, a new partnership between Stanford Intramural Sports and Summer Session was formed, which led to the beginning of Summer IM Sports. Summer IM Sports gives Stanford summer students access to Intramural Sports programming, including weekend tournaments and special events, that was not available in the past. The program was intended for our returning, visiting and international students as well as high school students. Funding provided by the partnership of Stanford IM Sports and Summer Session allowed interested participants to play for free.

Health & Human Performance
Health & Human Performance (HHP) is a student-focused division with the purpose of creating integrated, transformative learning environments focusing on holistic student development that inspire healthy behaviors. The units housed within HHP include the Leadership Institute, Outdoor Education, Physical Education and Wellness Education.

Stanford Outdoor Education (SOE) is a student-operated organization with the purpose of designing outcome-based learning and recreation opportunities integrating the intentional use of risk, challenge and experience. SOE is governed by a student council and funded by ASSU – the Associated Students of Stanford University.
- Climbing Wall Visits & Classes (# of students enrolled): 26,225 visits & 981 enrolled (2014-2015), 26,164 visits & 508 enrolled (2015-2016)
- Adventure Program (# of participants): 668 (2014-2015), 656 (2015-2016)

Stanford Fitness provides ample opportunities to stay active with our offerings. From fitness assessments to personal training packages, our campus community members are equipped with options to fulfill their fitness needs. In addition, this year marked the full roll-out of our Group Fitness Pass – a program where users can pay a single fee to drop-in for any of our select classes throughout the quarter.
- Group Fitness Passes Purchased: 258 (2014-2015), 1,695 (2015-2016) – increased by 557%
- Total # of Personal Training Sessions: 3,638 (2014-2015), 4,641 (2015-2016) – increased by 28%
- Olympic Lifting Platform Orientation (# of students enrolled): 175 (2014-2015), 242 (2015-2016) – increased by 38%
Pac-12 Fitness Challenge
In October of 2015, Stanford Recreation & Wellness participated in the Pac-12 Fitness Challenge, a conference-wide initiative between all 12 peer institutions to see which campus can submit the largest amount of workout minutes in one week. Due to tremendous campus engagement, heavy promotion and various giveaway incentives, Stanford submitted over 538,000 workout minutes to win for the sixth overall time. Our number of minutes not only surpassed the previous year's winning total by 21% but also recorded its best all-time workout total (to date).
The goal of the Recreation Class program is to provide participants with professional instruction in a safe and fun workout environment. Stanford students, faculty, staff and community members are eligible to participate in our selection of recreation classes. Class offerings for the year included Golf, Ashtanga Yoga, Tennis, Gymnastics, Ballet and Squash.

Stanford Aquatics offers recreational swimming at two outdoor locations – the Avery Aquatic Center (AAC) and the Avery Recreation Pool (ARP). While the AAC serves as the home to Stanford Athletics aquatic teams and events, the ARP is utilized for recreational swimming and instructional classes.

Stanford Martial Arts Program (SMAP)
The Stanford Martial Arts Program (SMAP) is an umbrella organization that supports the various member martial art groups on campus. The main goals are to educate the Stanford community through outreach programming about the variety of martial arts instruction on campus, serve as a centralized communications network between the different groups and preserve the martial arts as a vital and distinctive component of Stanford life.
- Total Members: 732 (2015), 768 (2016) – increased by 5%
- Total Event Participation: 1,383 participants (2015), 1,635 (2016) – increased by 18%
- Events included the following: Kendo Shinsa, Taekwondo Spring Open, Taekwondo Fall/Winter scrimmages, Taekwondo Poomsae, Kenpo Women's Self-Defense sessions, JKA Shotokan Testing/Special Training, JKA Joint Special Training
At Stanford Recreation & Wellness, we believe that people develop a relationship with wellness at different ages through different experiences. As a result, our Youth Programs rolls out the annual Stanford All-Sports Camp every summer to help our youth in building skills and confidence that lead to a lifetime of physical activity and wellness. Moving forward, this area will explore more programming opportunities during the academic year so we can continue to serve our youth.

Looking Ahead to A Healthier US
We are truly honored to serve our campus community as resource providers for fitness, health and wellness. This past academic year was a great indicator of our departmental success. But, our job is never done.
The task of "inspiring a healthier Stanford" is a challenge we gladly accept everyday. For the next year, we are excited about the potential of increasing programming across the board – from fitness classes to youth-centered initiatives. In addition, we can't wait to show off our different forms of engagement that will help to further spread our message on campus and beyond.
