Read Genesis 18:16-33

How did Abraham intercede on behalf of Lot and the city of Sodom? How did the angels (on behalf of God) respond to Abraham? What do you notice about the way Abraham interceded on behalf of Lot and the city of Sodom?

Read Exodus 32:9-14

Describe the intercession of Moses. What does this conversation tell you about God?

Read 1 Kings 18:16-46.

Describe how Elijah interceded on behalf of the Israelites in 1 Kings 18:16-40 and also in 1 Kings 18:41-46.

Read Daniel 10:10-15

How did Daniel intercede? What was the result of his intercession?

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8 NIV
Who is he that condemns? Christ Jesus, who died–more than that, who was raised to life–is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. Romans 8:34 NIV
Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them. Hebrews 7:25 NIV

Who is the ultimate intercessor?

Jesus has done the intercession work that no other person could do. Our role is simply to spread the news of his intercessory work and activate the victory of the cross through our prayers.

Read 2 Corinthians 5:18-21

Will you walk in the path of the intercessors who have gone before you? Will you be faithful to partner with God as you intercede for people and situations that he gives you a burden for?
