Parent Volunteers: Our volunteer profile form is available for the 19-20 school year. Just click the link below! You have to be approved to work as a classroom volunteer and to chaperone field trips. The system has a delay, so you want to be sure to take care of this well in advance of volunteering.

Lunch Accounts: You may put lunch money in your child's account at www.ezschoolpay.com. There is a small fee and you will need your child's student number found in PowerSchool. Lunch money may also be submitted by check. Please be sure to keep your child's lunch account in good standing. Additionally, our cafeteria computer system does not have the capabilities to put a "block" on student lunch accounts for purchasing extra lunch items. Please talk to your child if you do not want them purchasing extra items.

Book Rental: You may still submit this if you have not. Thanks to those who have already paid or set up payment plans. If you are on a deferred payment, then the due date will be September 20, 2019. Click on the button for the fees.

Employment: GC still has several positions open. Please check out these opportunities by visiting the postings on our district employment page.

Transportation Note: Student Dismissal Changes Effective Monday

Earlier this week, communication about changes at dismissal was shared with you. Any changes we have made are to prioritize student safety. We will continue to assess this and look to implement procedures that are 1) safe and 2) effective. We have reached out to other schools, our School Resource Officer and the Greenfield Police Department for their feedback, and we are responding accordingly.

As a reminder, we have three standard dismissal options on Monday: bus, car rider, and student/parent foot walker at Door 1. Please do not meet students under our awning at door on the sidewalk. Keep our walking students at Door 1 safe by following the guidance. Our front entrance is not a car pick up or drop off area.

If you pick up both a GIS and Harris student, please read: If you have students at both schools, you may pick up both students in the Harris car line. GIS students dismiss the same time as Harris students, and they need time to walk between the two campuses. If you are early or first in line, your vehicle will block traffic and our line becomes slow and difficult for other families.

School Dismissal Manager Update

School Dismissal Manager: YOU ARE NOW ABLE TO SET THIS UP. You should have received an email invite from School Dismissal Manager with information on how to set up your account and and make changes, and we sent home a paper copy of the instructions. Our office staff also called everyone who had not set up an account this week to offer assistance if needed. Attached in the buttons below is a copy of the letter and a quick reference guide if you are new to using SDM. We will use only this system starting on Monday, August 19, 2019.

School Bus Stop Arm Safety: Did you know that the laws in Indiana have changed and are now tougher. Click below for more info.

PTO: Thank you for stopping to check out our PTO table at our Meet-Your-Teacher night. If you need to contact our PTO, you may reach them by sending a message to gcharrispto@gmail.com. Their first meeting is Wednesday, Sept. 11 @ 2:30 PM here at Harris.

Immunizations: If you have not turned in your child's shot records, you will receive a letter in the mail in the next few days, and we will be contacting you by phone. If you are unsure of your status, please feel free to reach out to us. All records must be received by 8:00 am on September 20th. The Hancock Health Department offers immunizations and you can contact them to set this up. If you need assistance contact our school nurse at cbarkdull@gcsc.k12.in.us or call us at 317-467-6731.

FAMILY EDUCATION AND PRIVACY RIGHTS ACT: The law guarantees your family rights to privacy in school matters. You must notify the principal by September 1, or within fifteen days of enrollment (whichever is later in the school year) if you do not want your child's photo or name to appear in school-sponsored publications. This includes, newsletters, school directories, honor roll or awards lists, promotion rosters, athletic programs, etc.

Attendance: We encourage all of our students to attend school whenever they are well enough to do so. Good school attendance is important in helping students achieve academic and social/emotional success.

Perfect Attendance: This is defined as ALL day of EVERY day. We understand that this is an important achievement for many students, but nothing is more important than your student’s health, so do not send them to school if they are ill simply so that they can receive this award at the end of the year.

PowerSchool: Due to a recent update to this system, you may be asked to update your password when logging in. If you need assistance, please contact our main office.
