What is Midwifery-led Care?
You have all the access to all of the same examinations, testing, supervision, and referrals that would be available under the care of an Obstetrician.
Antenatal care with midwives features consultations with ample opportunity to ask questions and further your education, a compassionate, trusting relationship with your team and committed breastfeeding support. At the same time, midwifery care includes careful monitoring and nurturing of the well-being of both mother and baby antenatally, during the birth, and throughout the postnatal period.
Did you know that women who give birth under the care of a midwife are more likely to have:
- Lower rates of birth by Caesarean Section.
- Lower rates of induced labour.
- Significantly lower rates of third and fourth degree tears from delivery and less episiotomy rates.
- Higher success of breastfeeding.
