Activities Calendar

World Class Wednesday

We were very excited to see Baker featured in the first World Class Wednesday Video for the 2019-2020 school year. Mrs. Becker and her 7th grade students used fort building materials to learn Surface Area and Volume. The fort building materials helped to create a real life, real world application of student learning. Please click on the video below to see this in action.

Curriculum Night/Open House

Date: Thursday, September 19th

Time: 7 pm - 8:30 pm

Please note that Thursday, September 19th is an odd day, so for students that have odd and even classes, please attend their odd day class.

You will arrive and go to your child's 1st hour class by 7:00pm where you will be given a copy of their complete schedule and a building map as well as learn about your child’s first hour class. If you don't know your child's first hour room number don’t worry, we will have a list of student names and their first hour room numbers in the main hallway for you to reference.

You will proceed through their daily schedule, having 10 minutes in each class and 5 minutes passing time. Parents with more than one student, please plan out ahead of time which teachers you will visit. If there is a class you would really like to visit but can't fit, please contact the teacher and they would be happy to fill you in or meet with you at a later date.

Teachers will provide a brief overview of the curriculum and learning expectations for all parents. They will not have time to meet and have conversations about individual students. If you have a need to speak with a teacher regarding a concern with your child, please contact them via email to make an appointment where they will be able to provide you with enough time and a private environment.

PTO Color Run

October 2nd, 2019

Click on the link above and register today!

The students of Baker Middle School will host the inaugural community wide Color Run by Get Active Fundraising on October 2nd, 2019 after school to raise money.

The Color Run is an untimed 1.5 Mile walk & 2 Mile run for all ages and fitness abilities. Walk, jog, or run to the finish line! Along the route, participants pass through vibrant color zones, making it a “colorful experience.” This event is fun for all ages and a great way to make running fun and exciting! Additionally, during the race, participants are doused with color at various color stations ending with one final color celebration at the finish line.

“Rather than sell goods, we want to engage the entire student body in a fitness initiative that aims to encourage a life-long healthy way of living,” says Tara Colussi, Baker Middle School PTO President. Participants that register by 9/22/19 will receive a t-shirt, race bib, and individual color packet.

You can sign up for the run by visiting secure.getactivefundraising.com and searching for your event or by completing a paper registration form. Business sponsorship opportunities are also available. This is a great way to promote for any business and support your community. Please contact the event organizer for more information.

Suicide Prevention & Intervention

September is National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month. National Suicide Prevention Week is September 8 – 14, and September 10th was World Suicide Prevention Day. This is an important time for us to strengthen our mental health awareness. Several Baker teachers attended a district provided professional development for SafeTALK (Suicide Alertness For Everyone) and shared their learning with the staff.

The district has adopted the ACT (Acknowledge Care & Tell) initiative to address student social-emotional needs. You may have seen the posters around the building (Pictured above). In the upcoming weeks you will receive more information about this and the counselors will be meeting with students to deliver information and resource cards.

The Baker Middle School Parent/Teacher Organization provides comprehensive services and support to students, parents and teachers to enhance the learning environment and experience. They provide support and funding for activities within Baker, TSD and the Troy community. If you would like to learn more information about the PTO and how you can get involved, feel free to join us for one of the PTO Board Meetings.
