Art Braeden Canfield

The series of paintings I have been working on have been inspired by summer days in the sun, at the beach, in the mountains, and most of all; in the pool. I wanted to paint about the summer because every kid knows there is no time better than summer. When I am working on these paintings I get the same feeling that I get driving down the road in late July with the windows down towards my favorite fishing spot. There's something romantic about summer that any teen can relate to. Something about warm nights and no school to wake up to will make you fall in love. Not in love with a person, in love with something that you can't quite explain. That feeling of being in love with the undescribed is what I want people to feel when they look at my paintings. The feeling of driving down the road on a warm night with their friends. The feeling of waking up early in the morning to go fishing. The feeling of sitting out on a surfboard as the sun sets, waiting for the last waves. The feeling of sitting next to someone at a bonfire, holding hands. The feeling of pavement on bare feet. The feeling of not being concerned about waking up for school the next day. The feeling of cool river water from forbidden swimming holes surrounding your body. The feeling of ice cream melting down your hand as you lick it off. These are the feelings I want my paintings to provoke.
