MEN'S SWIM TEAM FINISHES FOURTH AT NATIONALS ... With a chance to finish in the top-five at the NCAA Division II Men's Swimming & Diving Championships for the sixth year in a row, senior backstroke swimmers Marco Palacios and Evan Coleman made sure the Moccasins would indeed do it again. Palacios won the silver medal in the 200-back and got scoring help from Coleman in the consolation finals, and a bronze medal from the 400-freestyle relay team that also included Palacios moved the Moccasins into fourth place at the end of the night. WOMEN'S WRAPS UP SEASON AT NATIONALS ... The Florida Southern women's swimming team wrapped up the 2016-17 season Saturday at the NCAA Division II Swimming & Diving National Championships, with the Moccasins' top performance on day four coming from their 400-freestyle relay team, which narrowly missed a spot in the consolation finals.(Recaps: Day 1 | Day 2 | Day 3 | Day 4)

WOMEN'S SQUAD FALLS IN REGIONAL OPENER ... Florida Southern College women's basketball started off cold and never got going in a 71-47 loss to Rollins in the first round of the NCAA South Regional on Friday at the McArthur Center (read more).

COULTAS SELECTED TO REPRESENT UNITED STATES FOR ARNOLD PALMER CUP ... Florida Southern junior John Coultas has been selected to play in the 2017 Arnold Palmer Cup representing the United States in the annual Ryder Cup-style competition that will be played June 9-11 at Atlanta Athletic Club. The Arnold Palmer Cup matches 10 of the best college golfers from the U.S. against 10 of the best from Europe. Coultas is the only Division II player on the U.S. Team (read more).

VanDerLAAN NAMED SSC GOLFER OF THE WEEK .... For the second time this season, Florida Southern's John VanDerLaan has been selected as the Sunshine State Conference Men's Golfer-of-the-Week. The junior from Southbury, Connecticut earned this week's award after winning the Panther Invitational hosted by Florida Tech (read more).

MOCS PLACE FIFTH AT SOUTHEASTERN COLLEGIATE ... Led by a one-under par 71 from junior John Coultas, and an even-par 72 from freshman Chase Ibbotson, 3rd-ranked Florida Southern closed out the Southeastern Collegiate with a 295 that kept the Moccasins in fifth place in the 18-team field that featured eight out of the top-10 from the most recent Bushnell national poll (Day 1 | Day 2).

LALLI PICKS UP NATIONAL AND SSC WEEKLY HONORS ... Florida Southern College men's lacrosse senior goalkeeper Matt Lalli has been named as the USILA Division II Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts in last week's contests against No. 17 Lake Erie and No. 5 NYIT (read more) and the Sunshine State Conference Defensive Player of the Week as well (read more).

WINNERS OF TWO ROAD MATCHES IN A ROW ... Cody Dyer scored six goals and Matt Lalli made 14 saves to help lead Florida Southern College men's lacrosse to a 9-7 win at Lincoln Memorial on Wednesday at the LMU Lacrosse Complex (read more). Matt Lalli came up with another brilliant performance in goal, and Cody Dyer scored three times as Florida Southern College men's lacrosse cruised to an 8-4 win at Indianapolis on Saturday (read more). FSC goes goes for a third-straight win with a 4 p.m. game today against Alabama-Huntsville at Bryant Stadium.

BURSINGER EARNS NATIONAL AND CONFERENCE RECOGNITION ... Florida Southern College women's lacrosse sophomore Dani Bursinger has been named as the IWLCA Division II Offensive Player of the Week, the organization announced on Wednesday evening (read more). She earned Sunshine State Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors as well (read more).

EIGHT IN A ROW FOR WOMEN'S LACROSSE ... Florida Southern College women's lacrosse battled a driving rainstorm and an hour-long power outage in a 21-10 win over visiting Bloomsburg on Monday at Bryant Stadium. The Moccasins jumped out to an early 7-0 lead and never looked back to pick up their sixth-straight win in their first-ever meeting with the Huskies (read more). The squad picked up its seventh-straight win with a convincing 15-4 win over No. 16 Indiana (PA) on Wednesday night at Bryant Stadium. The No. 5 Moccasins (10-5 overall) used a dominant first half to seize the momentum, and cruised to an easy win over the Crimson Hawks (read more). FSC opens SSC play on March 25 at Saint Leo.

BASEBALL ON SEVEN-GAME WIN STREAK  ... After knocking off Eckerd, 6-3, in a non-conference game on Monday behind a solid outing in his freshman starting debut by J.J. Niekro (read more), the Moccasins returned to league play to sweep Florida Tech in a three-game Sunshine State Conference series. FSC won the first game, 34-0, as Logan Browning, J.T. Hintzen, and Cameron Hanes, combined to strike out 16 batters (read more) while game two featured a late rally for a 3-2 Moccasin win (read more). In game three, Evan Barnes and Cody Burgess each had four hits and three RBI in a 12-8 victory (read more). The Moccasins completed the undefeated with with a 7-2 win over Ohio Dominican in a game called due to a power outage in the Henley Field neighborhood (read more). Burgess continued his hot week with a three-run homer while Jason Sierra tripled to extend his hit streak to 10 games. FSC carries a 15-6 overall record and the team is 3-3 in SSC action.

WINNERS OF SIX OF LAST SEVEN ... Florida Southern spent a very busy Spring Break and have won six of the last seven matches. The Moccasins have played seven matches since March 6 and will continue the stretch with a 3 p.m. match today at home against Indianapolis. (visit fscmocs.com for match details). Florida Southern carries a 7-5 mark into today's match while posting a 1-1 mark in Sunshine State Conference play.

WOMEN'S TENNIS MAKES IF FIVE IN A ROW ... The women's tennis team played just two matches over Spring Break (one other was rained out), but the Moccasins came away with a pair of wins to push their win streak to five matches. FSC topped Bluefield State, 9-0 on Sunday, with most of the regular starting line-up taking the day off (read more) and then the Moccasins downed Alabama-Huntsville, 7-2, on Tuesday (read more). FSC is now 5-2 overall in first place in the SSC with a 3-0 league mark.

SOFTBALL WINS THREE OF FIVE DURING THE WEEK ... The Moccasins started the week with a doubleheader sweep of Claflin, winning 5-4 and 10-2. With Florida Southern's offense struggling somewhat early on in its doubleheader with Claflin (SC), head coach Chris Bellotto turned things up a bit with some aggressive base running that brought the Moccasins to life in the latter stages of game one for a 5-4 victory. In game two, the offense really didn't need that extra push as Zierra Flodman and Leah Pemberton each drove in three runs to lead the Moccasins to a 10-2, five-inning win over the Panthers (read more). Florida Southern then played Embry-Riddle in a three-game series, winning the middle game. In the first game, Brandi Jones pitched 14.2 innings, holding the Eagles to just two runs, but the Moccasin offense offered little help in a 2-1 loss (read more). In the doubleheader, Jessica Trana hit a two-run homer as the Mocs won the opener, 3-0, while Embry-Riddle took a 2-1 decision in game two (read more). FSC will take a 13-10 overall record and a 4-5 league mark in the Barry series in Miami Shores this weekend.

WOMEN'S GOLF TAKES NINTH AT PEGGY KIRK BELL TOURNEY ... With three Moccasins shooting identical scores in the final round, including sophomore Tori Higgins who was tied for the team scoring lead overall, Florida Southern finished the Peggy Kirk Bell Invitational in ninth place out of 14 teams with a total team score of 937 (Day 1 | Day 2)

TRACK TEAMS GET BACK INTO THE MIX ... The Moccasins men's and women's track teams will compete in six invitationals over the next two weeks beginning with two meets this weekend. Friday night has Florida Southern competing in the USF Bulls Invitational in Tampa, while on Saturday, the squad moves to the other end of Interstate-4, to compete in the UCF Invitational in Orlando.

WATER SKI TEAM RANKED #1 NATIONALLY ... Florida Southern College water ski has moved up to the No. 1 ranking in the nation, the National Collegiate Water Ski Association recently announced (read more).

MEYER NAMED TO SPECIAL OLYMPICS BOARD ... Special Olympics Florida announced that Pete Meyer, director of athletics for Florida Southern College, has joined the Special Olympics Florida Board of Directors (read more).
