Kipeto Energy Limited Company (KEL) is a special purpose vehicle incorporated in Kenya for the development of the Kipeto Wind Power Project. The brief asked for a brand refresh which required ‘African heritage’ to be a pivotal part of the brand.
An African pattern was created which reflected the new logo and was incorporated onto business cards, letterheads, a company brochure, the website and office space.
A visual identity refresh and a strong design concept was commissioned to launch Garden City, an integrated residential, retail and office development in Kenya.
The 3 section circular image was created to represent the mix of retail, residential and office all contained under one roof - The perfect mix. This concept was then applied throughout the marketing collateral.
Over the years Garden City has developed and now consists of many entities. These include Garden City Business Park and Garden City Residential.
Gong Creative have been involved in the brand and marketing of these and have produced many marketing collaterals over the years.
DPO Group is the fastest growing payment services provider across Africa, operating in 19 countries. Its technology enables over 100,000 businesses to securely make and receive payments online with all currencies and payment methods including mobile money.
DPO asked Gong Creative to consolidate its brand guidelines to create consistency across its brand and subsidiary companies. This also involved creating a corporate brochure and various sales presentations.
Shelter Afrique, a pan-African finance institution that supports the development of the housing and real estate sector in Africa, contracted Gong Communications to develop their strategic communications road map and re-invigorate the company brand.
We started with the visual identity, bright colours and architectural blue prints were used to create an approachable and African feel to the brand. This was then applied to a full marketing, communications and digital collateral suite.

DIVE IN FESTIVAL
Gong Creative was asked to create a brand identity for a diversity and inclusion festival, an initiative of The Inclusion@Lloyd’s Group, a joint initiative between the Corporation of Lloyd’s and the Lloyd’s Market Association.
The name Dive In (Diversity and Inclusion) was developed and a colourful sploosh was used across the festival merchandise and marketing collaterals. A website and app was also created.
To date, Dive In has won or been shortlisted for 12 awards, including Marketing Week’s Diversity Champion Award – described as a ‘brave and bold event by the judges, was named Insurance Event of the Year at the Insurance Marketing and PR Awards and a Diversity and Inclusion nominee for The Guardian Sustainable Business Awards.

GONG COMMUNICATIONS EVENTS
As part of Gong’s marketing strategy we decided to hold a series of events, which topics related to our client sectors and services. The brand for these events needed to nod to the main Gong brand and guidelines but was also to be recognisable as the brand for the Gong events.
The same font and style was taken from the main Gong brand but a black and white colour scheme was used to differentiate the main brand from the events, it also gave the events a sophisticated look and feel.
As part of the marketing strategy, videos were created and circulated to attendees and clients that were unable to attend. Short snippets were also shared on social media.
RETHINK LEARNING WEEK
Lloyd’s and the LMA combined their learning and development expertise for the first time to produce a bigger, bolder and more exciting event for the whole of the Lloyd’s market. Spread over 5 days and 22 sessions, speakers reflecting the LMA Academy’s technical training expertise are complemented by the latest in management theory and organisational development.
Gong Creative was asked to create the brand identity for this Learning week. The name Rethink was used alongside a geometric image of a brain. The identity was then used across all marketing and event collaterals.
DIVE IN IMPACT AWARDS
The Dive In Festival has grown from a Lloyd’s market event in London at launch in 2015 to become an award winning global movement that is embraced by the wider insurance industry.
Its mission is to create engaging moments of shared insight and experience that inspire behaviour change at the individual and institutional level to support the creation of inclusive cultures that are good for business and best for people.
On 6th November 2019, The Dive In Impact Awards celebrated the Dive In movement and specifically acknowledged the people, networks, and organisations who reflect its mission, often as volunteers and always through discretionary effort.
Gong Creative helped with all the branding elements and marketing materials for the award night.
APARITO 5TH ANNIVERSARY
Aparito streamlines the drug development process by integrating specialist clinical and regulatory knowledge with technology for gathering patient-generated data outside of hospital.
As Aparito approached its 5th birthday in September, we helped organise a stakeholder conference and celebration at the Royal Society of Medicine, capturing the event in words and on video to share stories from different stakeholders in Aparito assisted clinical trials.
An icon and mini brand was created for the event that was distributed across different touch points at the event.
DoctorLink is a tool specifically designed to alleviate pressure on NHS GP surgeries and support the government’s ambitions for integrated, digital first NHS primary care. Gong has developed and activated a communications strategy to bring DoctorLink’s online advice and triage tool to market. This has involved brand positioning, developing a White Paper, Getting Better, and supporting with the product launch at the Health and Care Innovation Expo 2017.
The African Economic Research Consortium is a capacity building institution to inform economic policies in sub-Saharan Africa.
Gong Kenya were approached to write its annual report ‘African Economic Research Consortium at 30: The Catalyst for Economic Growth and Stability in sub-Saharan Africa’.

Mi Vida, which means ‘my life’ in Spanish, is a new Kenyan residential property developer. A joint venture between Actis, a leading growth markets investor and Shapoorji Pallonji Real Estate (SPRE), the real estate arm of one of India’s largest conglomerates, Mi Vida was created to address the shortage of quality middle income housing in Kenya.
Gong Creative has created various pieces of marketing collateral to promote Mi Vida’s first project in Nairobi.
Gong Communications designed and executed a survey of African Diasporan MBA students at leading Western business schools for Jacana Partners.
Gong Creative prepared an infographic summary of the survey key findings to provide additional traction, particularly via digital platforms.
The infographic was a hit with the media with coverage in the Africa and private equity-focused international and local media, and on Twitter, reinforcing Jacana’s business message. This infographic has continued to be shared on Twitter years after its release proving the value of well-targeted, well-packaged thoughtful research.
UGANDA CONSERVATION FOUNDATION (UCF)
Positive conservation stories in the news are regrettably rare, so when we heard about the Uganda Conservation Foundation’s role in contributing to the recovery of the 1,500 square mile Murchison National Park, it got our attention. UCF aims to conserve and protect Uganda’s parks and wildlife alongside developing skills and building partnerships with surrounding communities to support sustainable livelihoods. What’s been achieved already by a small committed team is truly remarkable.

Thor’s love for motorbikes was a strong focus for the design. Large, full screen images and interactive elements make this scrolling website engaging for the viewer.
