Take me to Costa Rica by: Emily venters

Who will go with me? I plan to take my family along with me to Costa Rica. Included in my family is, my brother (Zach), Mom (Tricia) and Dad (Trey). I want to take them with me, because I love spending time and exploring new places with them.

Where will we stay? My family and I will stay at a resort called "Hotel Riu Guanacaste." It is located in the northwest part of Costa Rica and sits right on the beach. We will stay here, because it has easy access to the beach, beautiful views and good reviews (my dad is all about reviews).

When will we visit? We plan to visit Costa Rica during Christmas Break next year. The reason we are going at this time is, because between December and April it is dry season there. Dry season is the best time to go, because there is lots of sunshine and the temperatures are not unbearably hot. We also want to escape the cold weather in Lawrence.

How will we get there? We plan to fly from MCI to Costa Rica on United Airlines. The total flight time will be around 5 hours. From the Costa Rica airport we will then, take a cab or rent a car and drive to our hotel in Guanacaste.

What will we do? In Costa Rica, we will zip-line through the rainforest, snorkel in the beautiful, blue waters and hike in national parks (Manuel Antonio, Corcovado and Tortuguero). We will also enjoy the beaches and explore the local shops.

What foods will we try? My family and I love to try unique foods from different places so we will definitely be trying some traditional Costa Rican food. Most traditional Costa Rican foods consist of beans and rice, along with fish (or other meat), vegetables and fried plantains. The most common dish is Gallo Pinto. Gallo Pinto is a typical breakfast dish and is something that I would like to try. One other food I would like to try is, fresh Papaya.

Why do I want to go there? I have always wanted to visit Costa Rica because of how beautiful it looks in pictures. It has a blend of everything including, mountains, rainforests, beaches and volcanoes. There are countless things to do and explore there, and it is always warm!

It may "Costa" lot of money, but it will be worth it!
