Alpine-Balsam BCH Storytelling

Alpine - Balsam, A Multi-Year Project to:

  1. Understand the former BCH site
  2. Identify options for transforming it to meet future needs
  3. Choose development options that are consistent with the community’s vision and goals. Your ideas are essential!

By allowing people to share their experiences, we hope to:

  • Provide an opportunity to remember and acknowlede the different ways in which the hospital has impacted our community
  • Identify common community threads and themes
  • Carry these themes forward into the next planning phase to inform future design drivers and community interests/memories
  • Communicate overall long-range planning process and timeframes while interacting with the community and developing feedback loops for the future
  • Capturing archival historical pieces and sharing with community

Share Your Story

Community members are filling out story and memory tags to share their experiences of the former BCH facility. We invite you to share your memories by filling out an Alpine-Balsam Storytelling Questionnaire.

"I have been here for broken nose (4), I think broken fingers, broken neck. Food poisoning. But most of all the birth of my 2 kids; Michael and Sarah rock the world." - 41 year Boulder resident
"As an EMT student, I watched my first baby born at BCH. It was a life-affirming event and inspired me to go on to become a PA. I now work across the street at Boulder Medical Center" - 46 year Boulder resident
"The hospital is where I was born and its been the site of so many joyful and heartbreaking moments since. I'll remember it always." - 38 year Boulder resident
