2019 Schedule Announced
We are excited to announce the 2019 Ohio State Women’s Volleyball schedule featuring sixteen home matches in the BRAND NEW Covelli Center! The Buckeyes will play fourteen matches against ten teams that made the 2018 NCAA Tournament.
The Ohio State Women’s Volleyball Team had a life-changing experience traveling and competing in Brazil and Peru over the summer. The full 2019 roster reported at the end of May for 10 days of training before taking off for South America. The first two days were spent exploring Rio with a trip to Christ the Redeemer, a match at a local club and paddle boarding. From there the team drove to train with the U20 Brazilian National Team at Saquarema where the facilities, food and competition were top notch. Following the matches in Saquarema the tour guide brought us to Sugarloaf Mountain in Rio on the way to the airport – This was a great surprise with incredible views of the beaches and neighborhoods. Next up was a flight to Peru for two days of service and matches vs the U20 Peruvian National Team in Lima. There was a lot of excitement heading to Cuzco and Ollantaytambo as the team prepared to experience Machu Picchu – I will let the pictures speak to this. On the way back to Columbus we reflected on the volunteer opportunities and connections made along the way, the fact that we were able to see 2 of the 7 Wonders of the World and the great competition on the volleyball court. We are forever thankful for the support we receive from the athletic department, family, friends and fans and we cannot wait to show how we have grown both on and off the court!
My Road Trip
Madison Smeathers is a senior middle blocker for the Buckeye Women’s Volleyball team who has made appearances in over 70 matches throughout her tenure as a Buckeye. Smeathers recently took a trip to Peru and Brazil with the entire women’s volleyball team. Take a unique perspective through images and sketches from Maddie as we look back at her amazing experience on the South American Tour.
Covelli Center Debut
The training block was a great way to break in the Covelli Center as the Buckeyes welcomed fans for a fun-filled open house in June featuring volleyball, food trucks and activities around the concourse. Those who purchased season tickets were able to pick out their seats and enjoyed the hunt! All seats in the Covelli Center will be ticketed and we look forward to selling out!
