Punta Sur Eco Beach Park, Cozumel Story and Photography by Robert Neff

November 27, 2017. On Day 5 of the 7 Day Western Caribbean Cruise with Royal Caribbean onboard the Brilliance of the Seas, I headed for Punta Sur Eco Beach Park. This was the first of several unique experiences that included a visit to the Celarain Lighthouse, Columbia Lagoon and a walk along the lighthouse's beach.

The road is a beach road and it can be very bumpy.

Along the way, there are Mayan ruins to see.

The drive to the lighthouse is along the beach. You can pull over and walk in the soft white powder sand. There are no swimming signs posted.

The walk along the beach has large and small lava rock formations. Be sure to look around for sea life that has washed ashore.

Punta Sur Eco Beach Park also has Columbia Lagoon, which is has great bird watching, Celarain Lighthouse, and Punta Sur Beach and Clubhouse.

Columbia Lagoon is on the left.

Celarain Lighthouse. You can climb to the top for 360 degree views.

My book, Pelican Beakon, earned a silver medal at 2017 Florida Authors and Publishers Association President's Book Award in the short story fiction category. The Pelican Beakon is a newspaper for pelicans, by pelicans, and their one staff human photographer who dreams of being writer. Read more about the Pelican Beakon on its website.
