WOMEN'S LACROSSE ROUTS ROLLINS, WINS SSC TITLE ... No. 4 Florida Southern College clinched its third-straight Sunshine State Conference regular-season championship with a convincing 18-5 victory over No. 5 Rollins on Tuesday at Bryant Stadium. With the win, the Mocs' 12th in a row, FSC is assured of hosting the SSC Tournament, which will take place on April 28 and April 30 at Lakeland's Bryant Stadium (read more) ... Behind three goals each by Kendall Kerge and Meghan O'Brien, Florida Southern trounced Tampa, 19-6 on Saturday. The Moccasins poured it on in the first, taking a 16-4 lead at intermission. GILLIS GETS IWLCA HONOR ... Last Monday, goalkeeper Taylor Gillis was named the Sunshine State Conference Defensive Player of the Week. Two days later, she was selected the Division II Player of the Week by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (read more).

ON THE HORIZON ... The Moccasins (15-2, 4-0 SSC) host Lenoir-Rhyne on Friday for Senior Night at 7 p.m. at Bryant Stadium before wrapping up the regular season on the road at Limestone on April 22 at noon.

Florida Southern will be the host institution for the Sunshine State Conference women's golf championship which will be played April 23-25 at the Country Club of Winter Haven. The Moccasins, ranked 25th in the GolfStat Relative Ranking as of April 3, will be looking for their first SSC championship since winning their fourth title in 2013. The men's golf championship will be contested on April 23-25 at the Duran Golf Club in Viera. The fifth ranked Moccasins, which have won 16 SSC championships, will be looking to recapture the crown they last won in 2010. (SSC Men's Championship Website)

MEN'S LACROSSE TOPPED BY TAMPA ... Florida Southern College men's lacrosse fell into an early hole and never recovered in an 18-8 loss to No. 13 Tampa on Wednesday at Bryant Stadium. (read more)

UP NEXT ... The Moccasins (6-6, 1-2 SSC) have two regular season games left, playing Saturday at Rollins at 1 p.m. and then wrapping up with Lynn on April 22 at home at 7 p.m. The Sunshine State Conference Tournament, which includes the top four teams in the conference, will take place on April 28 and 30 at the site of the regular-season champion.

SOFTBALL SPLITS FLORIDA TECH TWIN-BILL ... A grand slam by Alex Mace (pictured) and a 3-run homer by Zierra Flodman were the big hits for Florida Southern on Saturday as the Moccasins defeated Florida Tech 10-2 in the second game of their doubleheader after the Panthers scored two runs in the top of the sixth to rally for a 3-2 win in game one (read more).

UP NEXT ... Florida Southern (23-22, 8-10 SSC) has this weekend off before concluding its home season on April 21-22 against Nova Southeastern at the Auburndale Softball Complex.

BASEBALL'S WIN STREAK SNAPPED AT 17 ... Rollins downed No. 10 Florida Southern, 11-9, last Friday night, putting an end to the Moccasins' 17-game win streak. The streak was the longest since 2005 and was the fourth longest in team history (read more). FSC rebounded Saturday with a 12-1 win behind a seven-strikeout performance by Jake Walsh (pictured). However, the Tars came back to take game two, 9-1, and take the series (read more).

ON THE HORIZON ... Florida Southern (26-6, 7-5 SSC and now ranked 15th by Collegiate Baseball Magazine) takes a break from Sunshine State Conference play for a three-game series April 14-15 at Lander University in Greenwood, SC. The Moccasins will play a doubleheader at 2 p.m. on Friday and a single game at 1 p.m. on Saturday. FSC returns to Henley Field on April 21-22 to take on the University of Tampa in a three-game SSC series.

WOMEN'S TENNIS WINS TWO ... No. 25 Florida Southern picked up a pair of wins over the weekend, winning 6-3 at Embry-Riddle on Saturday (read more) and then knocking off Palm Beach Atlantic, 8-1 on Saturday (read more).

UP NEXT ... Florida Southern (13-5, 6-2 SSC) will conclude the regular season with a 3 p.m. home match with #29 Saint Leo this afternoon at the Wynee Warden Tennis Center. The Moccasins will be seeded third or fourth in the SSC Tournament which will take place April 20-22 at the IMG Academy in Bradenton (SSC Championship website).

MEN'S TENNIS LOOKS TO END ON HIGH NOTE ... The No. 38 Moccasins will look to right the ship when they take on 28th-ranked Rollins this Saturday in Winter Park at 10 a.m. FSC will be aiming to snap a three-match losing streak as they prepare for Sunshine State Conference Tournament, April 20-22 at the IMG Academy in Bradenton. The Moccasins could be seeded fourth or fifth depending on remaining matches to be played (SSC Championship website).

GUERRA TURNS IN FIFTH FASTEST 1500-METER ... Aleksa Guerra (pictured) posted a time of 4:56.09 in the 1500-meter race at the UNF Invitational to record the fifth fastest in FSC history for the event. Haley Blem turned in her second fastest career time with a 5:11.37 in the same event. Sam Clarke recorded a 2:36.00 in the 800-meter run.

BAKER SETS FSC FRESHMAN RECORD ... Drake Baker set a Florida Southern freshman record with a time of 2:00.40 in the 800-meter at the University of Florida Invitational here Saturday at the UNF Track. Baker eclipses the previous freshman record time of 2:00.59 set by John Bryant at the USF Bulls Invitational on March 20, 2015 (read more).

The Boys of Summer are at it once again. For the Moccasins, that means fans can follow Matt Joyce with the Oakland Athletics on the American League. Florida Southern also has alums playing in the minor leagues, including Keith Curcio, who is in the Southern League with Mississippi, an AA affiliate of Atlanta; Jhalan Jackson, who is in the Florida State League at Tampa, a Class A affiliate of the New York Yankees; and Trey Vavra, who is also in the Class A Florida State League at Fort Myers, an affiliate of Minnesota. Also, Sam Machonis, is assigned to the Connecticut team (New York-Penn League) in the Detroit Tigers' extended Spring Training. (Note: click on a player's name to see their current stats.)
