William Floyd Board of Education meeting recap 11/15/16

The Board of Education meeting kicked off with a wonderful two-song performance of the William Floyd High School singing group, "The Acabellas," under the direction of music teacher Donia Rivera.

Superintendent of Schools Kevin M. Coster along with the Board of Education recognized employees for School-Related Professionals Day, which is a special day set aside to recognize all the wonderful school-related professionals who help our schools run so efficiently, both on the front lines and behind the scenes, on a daily basis. Employee groups recognized were paraprofessionals, teaching assistants, security personnel, heads and chiefs, and custodial, maintenance and grounds workers!

The Board also recognized this past fall sports season's All-County athletes (football was not included yet due to the playoffs still happening). Congratulations to the All-County athletes pictured with Board of Education member Anthony Speruta (left) and their coaches: Paul Paniccia (boys varsity soccer) and Kevin Rivera; members of the tennis team (l-r): Brooke Fernandez, Brianna Gonzalez, Hailey Loughlin, Sarah Mazzarella, Emily Fernandez and Kasey Hammel, (Coach Dave Pia is not pictured); Kayla Britt (gymnastics) with her coach Gia Vanacore; and William Floyd Athletic Director Mark Mensch. Not pictured: Amber Birchwell and her coach Matthew Sanders (girls varsity soccer).
William Floyd Middle School gave their building report for the 2016-17 school year led by Principal Carolyn Schick with the help of students talking about various programs and initiatives happening at the school!

The next Board of Education meeting will be held on Tuesday, December 13 at 8 pm in the William Floyd High School library. We hope to see you there!
