Ms. West's Science Lab gets a Facelift!

Ms. West received a Making STEM Connections grant from The Science Center of Iowa in Des Moines last Spring and all of the materials have arrived! She attended a training and is transforming her science lab into a MakerSpace!

The Making STEM Connections grant provided many resources and materials for Ms. West to share with her students. In their MakerSpace, they have materials like a GoPro, a sewing machine, 3D pen (and 3D printer that we already had), Hummingbird Robotics kits and other robotics kits, and many tools and gadgets in between! It is an amazing opportunity for students to be able to explore STEM in a new way. So far, students have explored the MakeyMakey kits in 7th and 8th grade and created music by completing circuits.

In STEM Club, students explored the Hummingbird Robotics kits and tried out some Textile Engineering using plastic fusion. STEM Club is offered for 6th-8th graders from 3:30-5:00 on 11.18, 12.2, and 12.9 this semester with more dates to come for 2nd semester!
