J’Ouvert: From Page to Stage Demystifying the creative process

Fresh from wowing audiences during its debut run on the West End stage, Theatre Peckham’s Artistic Director, Suzann McLean, sat down with J’Ouvert’s award-winning writer Yasmin Joseph and its leading actresses Gabrielle Brooks, Sapphire Joy and Annice Boparai to discuss the show’s journey from concept to theatre land.

In order to support future creatives to make their own journey to the world’s most respected theatre district, we’ve curated London-based programmes committed to developing behind-the-scenes talent.

The Young Vic has been running the Directors Program for over eighteen years, offering directors a unique opportunity to exchange experiences with peers and be part of a network of talented directors, designers and producers working and living in the UK.

After a series of sessions focusing on specific areas of creative producing (budgeting, scheduling, curation/programming, contracting, stage management, marketing, partnerships and fundraising), you’ll work collaboratively on producing your own event or installation at Theatre Peckham (or online if restrictions change) that showcases the work from other Young Peckham artists including the Young Creatives.
