Joshua Tree National Park is like no place you've been. It's a paradise for hiking and mountaineering or even just driving through. A very tranquil, inspiring and mysterious place.
Saguaro National Park is split into two parks, east and west. The dramatic drive from Tucson toward the park and petroglyphs at the west park are the highlights of the excursion.
A trip to Los Angeles isn't complete without a trip to the La Brea Tar Pits and to a couple of museums.
