2016 in Pictures

366 days, a picture every day. Some days, the picture opportunities were easy to find and the photos turned out perfectly, or nearly. Other days, not so much. But I took pictures and designated one as my picture of the day every single day of the year.

You can see all of them on Flickr: Daily Photos 2016. (If you visit the Flickr Album, you might notice there are more than 366 photos: when you are the mom of twins, sometimes you just really can't choose one picture per day, some days you have to have two.

This page collects just one from each month, I picked them out for the cover of my book. They aren't necessarily the best or even my favorites from that month, but they were the ones that I felt told the story of our year in a slightly more condensed fashion.

I wanted a picture of the guys in their dress shirts and ties. Someone said something funny, and I ended up loving this picture better than the posed picture, even if it is out of focus.

Katie had been sick and had to go to the vet's office. She was sporting a lot of hair at that time, too.

Easter Sunday -- We had my Mom over for ham and mashed potatoes and the obligatory picture with her oldest grandsons. They spent the morning at her house eating cinnamon rolls, drinking coffee, and playing Scrabble. Will tied Gramma, his best finish against her, including "dioxide" for a triple word score. I don't think she's quite ready for the day when he beats her.

Prom 2016

We had certain days of each month that we were supposed to take selfies. I didn't always do that, but I did take one in my Star Wars t-shirt on May the 4th. It's one of my favorite pictures I've taken of myself. I'll probably use it for my profile pic for a long time.

Baseball is my favorite sport. I couldn't help thinking of "The Right Stuff" or maybe a boy band album cover as the team walked towards me after a game.

Yes, more baseball. What can I say, I was a big fan of this team.

Last first day of high school. They've humored me all the way through with the first day of school pictures, though I wasn't actually there for this, Mark had to take it, I was already AT school.

Lots of lasts this year. But that just means lots of firsts coming up again in the next few years.

Before the election, I started posting daily photos or videos of Hobbes, just to make everyone smile. I kept going after the election, too. Kittens grow up so fast!

We celebrated Christmas morning with quiche and Cinnamon Streusel Coffeecake.

So that was our year in pictures. You can see the full album on Flickr: Daily Photos 2016.

Now, on to 2017! Happy New Year!
