L.A. COUNTY REOPENING ANNOUNCEMENT

LA County officials are allowing gyms, day camps and other places to reopen with modifications as early as tomorrow, June 12. Learn more HERE

Nail salons, tattoo shops, bars, theaters, concert halls, gaming facilities and theme parks are still closed countywide. Despite lifted restrictions, parties, gatherings and the mixing of households are still prohibited.

ECONOMIC RECOVERY PLAN

A recovery plan is underway to address local economic challenges brought about by the COVID-19 crisis. Among other items, the plan will unveil a recovery program for small businesses focused on direct and technical assistance, as well as with marketing and promotion. The plan will also identify necessary amendments to City policies that remove regulatory barriers for businesses looking to reopen or relocate in Temple City.

An outline of recommended strategies will be presented for city council review and input on June 16.

CITY COUNCIL MEETING

At the June 16 Council Meeting, the City Council will consider the following items: Planning Commission Actions of May 26, 2020, amendment to the agreement with City of Brea for Information Technology services, public hearing to amend the California Environmental Quality Act Traffic Threshold of Significance from Level of Service to Vehicle Miles Traveled, additional Community Development Block Grant Funds resulting from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, & Economic Security Act.

ONLINE COUNCIL MEETINGS

A reminder that members of the public can participate in the teleconference Council meetings by following the instructions stated on the meeting agenda. Members of the public can listen to the meeting audio livestream by CLICKING HERE. Requests to speak during “Public Comment” will be accepted by email to cityclerk@templecity.us before and during the meeting, prior to the close of public comment on an item. Efforts will be made to read written comments received before the end of the meeting. Comments that are not read into the record will be made part of the record. Lengthy public comment may be summarized in the interest of time.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

REAL ESTATE FORUM

The Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a free, virtual Real Estate Forum on Thursday, June 18 at 4:00 p.m. The City’s Interim Community Development Director, Scott Reimers, will be speaking about the City’s new Zoning Code, accessory dwelling units (ADUs), and the City’s response to the Covid-19 pandemic. PARKS AND RECREATION

TEMPLE CITY'S GOT TALENT

The show continues with the Temple City’s Got Talent Award Show airing Friday, June 12, 2020 at 7:00pm on the City’s YouTube and Facebook accounts. 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners will be announced for age categories 6-11, 12-17 and 18+ years in addition to the People’s Choice Award by Mayor Tom Chavez. MICROSOFT ENRICHMENT WORKSHOPS

The free, Microsoft Enrichment Workshops have been extended due to the popularity of the program. Next week youth have the opportunity to sign up for “Hour of Code Minecraft” for ages 8 years and up.
