Celebrating the Arts in D102 Illinois Arts education Week - March 13-19

Every day, every student will come to school and be met with learning opportunities at his or her personal developmental level in all subject areas.

He or she will leave school having been challenged, feeling successful, and looking forward to tomorrow.

D102 is recognized as one of the Best Communities for Music Education by the National Association of Music Merchants.

Annual D102 Alumni Concert inspires and connects junior high students with former D102 musicians.

Band, chorus, and orchestra are offered during the school day.

Music Education starts in kindergarten.

Students participate in a progressive music curriculum through eighth grade with music teachers. Kindergarten through fourth grades receive weekly instruction in singing, playing instruments, listening, movement and note reading.

Fifth through eighth grade students participate in music education with a music teacher during one quarter and may also pursue Band, Orchestra and/or Chorus.

Communications (Grades 5-6)

In grade 5, students focus on English Language Arts, Drama, and the 4C’s learning targets: narrative storytelling, informative speech, and persuasive speech.

Student ambassadors tell our story to leaders from visiting schools.

In grade 6, the emphasis is on learning targets in Drama, the 4C’s, and English Language Arts argumentation and research.

Students perform for families during school talent show.
Students gain argumentation and research skills in English Language Arts class through preparing and acting out the Trial of Peter Pan.
