the arrow and the song by henry wadsworth longfellow

the arrow and the song, (the arrow is a symbol for his life and/or soul and the song is his negativity)
I shot an arrow into the air, It fell to earth, I knew not where; ( he recklessly is trying to get rid of his bad energy randomly placing it elsewhere)
For, so swiftly it flew, the sight Could not follow it in its flight. (he couldnt keep up with the negativity that he threw out, for it spreads to fast)
I breathed a song into the air, It fell to earth, I knew not where;(again its restating that he lost his negativity but he assumed it came back down and probably affected someones life.)
For who has sight so keen and strong, That it can follow the flight of song? (hes unsure who could bare that much negative energy or who is that keen and strong)
Long, long afterward, in an oak I found the arrow, still unbroke; (he found where the song and arrow have gone and they were ok perfectly fine)
And the song, from beginning to end, I found again in the heart of a friend. (all of the things that were bringing him down were in his friends heart, the exact same)
the attitude of the poem is very sad but it takes many jumps too. throughout the story it takes emotional turns. at the beginning it was very confused but when you came closer to the middle it became better because the man lost his negativity, but towards the end you find out it was just in a heart of a friend now.
this ties in with attitudes and tones but this shows the shifts in them which are fairly quick. these shifts create different moods for viewers.
