Beowulf: The Movie Game of Thrones Edition

Since the movie for Beowulf is a bad representation of the epic poem, I decided to create my own cast and movie poster using Game of Thrones characters.

My movie poster I created for my interpretation of Beowulf as a movie using Game of Thrones characters.

Khal Drogo as Beowulf

Beowulf is the protagonist who fights Grendel, Grendel's mother, and the fire-breathing dragon. Beowulf is the strongest and able warrior. Khal Drogo is the leader of the Dothraki, who are very skilled in battle. I chose Khal Drogo to represent Beowulf because of skill in battle and how he is known as a legendary warrior. I also choseKhal Drogo for the role of Beowulf because of the relationship between dying because of a dragon. Beowulf was killed by the dragon. Khal Drogo was married to Daenerys Targaryen, who is a dragon born. Khal Drogo is killed by her because he is suffering a curse put on him by a witch. Daenerys kills Drogo to put him out of his misery.

Joffrey Baratheon As Grendal

A demon from Cain, preys on the people of King Hrothgar. A very ruthless and miserable, a great representation of the ethos of vengeance throughout the poem. I chose Joffrey Baratheon because of his lack of sympathy for others and for being well known as a ruthless character, similar to Grendel. He is the son of Cersei Lannister.

Cersei Lannister As Grendel's MOther

Grendel's mother comes for revenge of the death of her son, Grendel. She terrorizes Heorot for vengeance. I chose Cersei Lannister because she is the mother of Joffrey, who I chose for the role of Grendel. Cersei is also known for being very cunning. Cersei hates her husband Robert Baratheon.

Jon Snow as Wiglaf

Wiglaf is a young kinsman who comes to Beowulf's side while fighting the dragon when everyone abandons Beowulf. He proves himself to be very heroic. Although Jon Snow doesn't have anything to do with Khal Drogo, he shows many characteristics of being heroic. Jon Snow always tries to do the right thing when it comes to protecting the Night's Watch.

Robert Baratheon as King Hrothgar

King Hrothgar enjoys military success and prosperity, and a wise and aged ruler. Considered to be a different kind of leader. I chose Robert Baratheon because he's the ruler of Westeros. This one was a little more of a stretch because Robert hates being king. Since his rule was ended and taken over by Joffrey, I thought it was a good representation on how Grendel terrorizes King Hrothgar. Robert Baratheon is also hated by wife Cersei Lannister, like how Grendel's mother hates King Hrothgar and Beowulf.
